Why are there no stories for primitives here on RevTK? - zardoz73 - 2008-08-01 I'm using the member stories on this site in conjunction with the book, and, combining that with my own stories, I'm making pretty good progress. But whenever I get to a new primitive (for example, I've just gotten to "float"), I have to rely on the book only. Is there a reason for this? Does it help in the long run if I--and everyone else--memorizes Heisig's story, and only Heisig's story, for the primitives? I'm still starting out in the mid-300s, so I don't want to start (or keep) any "bad" habits that will screw me up later on. So, assuming it's not a problem, are there any alternative primitive stories that anyone's got? Perhaps a list of them....I looked but couldn't find a systematic list. Why are there no stories for primitives here on RevTK? - alyks - 2008-08-01 Primitives are primitives. Make a story if you can, but they're just something you memorize. Isn't too hard, actually. Take a look at the alternative primitives thread: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?tid=1602 Why are there no stories for primitives here on RevTK? - snallygaster - 2008-08-04 Since most primitives aren't real characters, they'd be a hassle to put into the database -- someone would have to basically draw a .gif of the shape. More importantly, since many of them are Heisig's original creations, I think it might fairly be considered a copyright violation to copy them. Why are there no stories for primitives here on RevTK? - Nukemarine - 2008-08-04 With the addition of RTK3, you find out some primitives are kanji in and of themselves (just rarer). Yes, I have some stories for primitives that were not kanji. My personal favorite is Frodo of the Shire (Rice Seedling and Earth), and Frodo and the Fellowship (Rice Seedling and Walking Legs). Those two really help sink in what were difficult kanji for me. |
