Does anyone know if and where I can get a text file japanese transcript for the Rurouni Kenshin Tusiokuhen OVAs? I found something which seemed right but if I open in in Word or text editor is is just gibberish (http://kitsunekko.net/subtitles/japanese/Rurouni_Kenshin_Tsuioku_hen.jap.sub.zip?view=content). Any help is much appreciated!!

Those kinds of subs are not textfiles, but graphics. You'll need a subtitle app to read them.

Just in case anyone else was having trouble with some of the files at Kitsunekko, if you're trying to download a file that has a "+" in the title/link, in the URL it gets converted to "%7Bplus%7D", so change that to "%2B" and it'll work.

I've been looking for the Kenshin series subs for quite some time now, but didn't find any. Do these even exist? I do have chinese and english ones on the DVDs though, lol...

Subtitles for very old things (that aren't Ghibli movies) are tough to find, I have found.
Reading about the subtitle rip method at D-Addicts was interesting, but that seems like a lot of work. I downloaded the .ts for Nyan Koi!, extracted the subs using Caption2ASS, and re-timed it using AegisSub. I posted my files at Kitsunekko, if you want to download them. I didn't tag the files, so there's no proof it was me, but I don't care.

For those that have used the above site, you probably noticed the subs are timed to the DVD. Some even have two episodes in one. Now, that's an annoying thing to deal with using timing adjust with the subtitle plug-in.

First: Is there an easy way to re-time these subs besides editing the .idx file with notepad?

Second: Has anyone already re-timed any of these subtitles (I noticed that Nobuta wo Produce was already re-timed)? Seems a waste to duplicate effort is someone already has the .idx file re-timed other shows.

I've retimed .srt files, but doesn't seem to work with .idx (ie image files used on dvd's).

OH YEAH THOSE hyd subs didn't really match sometimes.
just use KMPLAYER... it's easier than trying to retime IDX

just download it and open the video and subfile and press
alt+ o to load the subs
ctrol + o to load the video

[ to send the subtitle bacack .5 seconds
] to send the subtitle forward .5 seconds

or press alt + y and input how many miliseconds you want it pushed pack
200 = .2 seconds foward. -200= .2 seconds the other way.

Vobsub does that already in an easier way as you can type in the shift. I'm looking for the permanent solution where the timing is done and can then be shared.

Now, it's possible as people did already with HYD and Nobuta wo Produce ripped sub files. I'm just wondering what they did to do this. Editing the .idx file is possible but not user friendly so I'm hoping theres a sub editing program that handles ripped subs.

Did anyone have a backup? They used to have a load of One Piece subs... I was planning on getting back into One Piece, but now I don't have any subs =(
