Firefox Download Day - Transtic - 2008-06-16 If you haven't fallen in love with Firefox -yet-, Download Day will be the best opportunity to know one of the best browsers, and one of the best Japanese learning tools you will ever find. Let's go Firefox!
Firefox Download Day - playadom - 2008-06-16 I'm using RC2, I'll totally hit this up. Firefox Download Day - captal - 2008-06-16 Thanks for the heads up! I'm definitely in! Firefox Download Day - shaydwyrm - 2008-06-16 If you want to contribute to the record, keep in mind that Download Day starts at 10am PDT June 17 - if you're in a distant time zone, don't start too early! That's June 18 at 2am for people in Japan. EDIT: Okay, I'm dumb, it's probably impossible to start too early. But don't worry about having to wait until the 18th, I guess? Firefox Download Day - Jonathan - 2008-06-16 I don't know if I'm happier because Firefox 3 is finally going to a non-RC, stable version or because Mozilla is going to set a world record. Anyway, thanks for creating this topic, otherwise I wouldn't know about it. Firefox Download Day - Transtic - 2008-06-17 According to the Firefox 3 Download Day Countdown Add-on: Quote:12 hours until Download Day
Firefox Download Day - Sevenhelmets - 2008-06-17 It'll be quite cool being part of a World Record ![]() I just hope the servers will be up to the job.... Firefox Download Day - Transtic - 2008-06-17 2 hours and 12 minutes util Download Day!
Firefox Download Day - PrettyKitty - 2008-06-17 If I get the new Firefox, will I have to reinstall my Add-ons? [edit] I'll answer myself: yes.... Firefox Download Day - mentat_kgs - 2008-06-17 Erm, it seems mozilla site is done for. Firefox Download Day - Raichu - 2008-06-17 Either the URL is wrong or their servers have no time for me (I'm not even getting a favicon). Firefox Download Day - radical_tyro - 2008-06-17 Their email reminder told me to get it at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox?p=downloadday which is working. Firefox Download Day - Transtic - 2008-06-17 The URL was right, Mozilla's servers were down for some hours, but now Firefox 3 has been finally released! ![]() I installed FF3 over FF2 -do'h- and my bookmarks and download history are still here. The web history is gone. The add-ons are here, but I'll have to wait until several of them get updated to use them with FF3. Some add-ons that are working -or at least they seem to be working (yeah!): Rikaichan (one of the most important ones for me) Kanjilish Greasemonkey GMail notifier Foxclocks Goo Dics History Split Browse Adblock Plus Download Helper Foxmarks Web Search Pro Down Them All! Stopwatch Better Gmail2 Better GReader Dragdropupload OpenSearchFox Piclens Reminder Fox Some add-ons that have to be updated yet (boo!) : Better Gmail Anchorun Backword Bookmark Duplicator Bookmark LinkChecker ChinesePera-kun CLEO FEBE Countdown Clock Furigana Injector - boo! Hyperwords Internote Moji - boo! PlainOldFavorites Quick Locale Switcher Speak It - >_< Torrent Finder Toolbar - >_<* Web Marker XUL/Migemo >_<*** Firefox Download Day - cerulean - 2008-06-17 hm.. it wasn't compatible at first but after reinstalling kanji-lish, it works! Hurrah! Firefox Download Day - ファブリス - 2008-06-17 And for developers, FireBug 1.1 beta was working on Firefox 3 RC2, so I suppose it works on today's release. Firefox Download Day - Suzuru - 2008-06-17 Perapera-kun seems to be broken with 3. Weird that rikai works. Gonna go get it. Firefox Download Day - playadom - 2008-06-17 Rikai does work with FF3. And best of all, my FF3 is in Japanese(as well as my gmail, my facebook, etc.) Firefox Download Day - Suzuru - 2008-06-17 playadom Wrote:Rikai does work with FF3. And best of all, my FF3 is in Japanese(as well as my gmail, my facebook, etc.)Same here, it has to be if you are serious about learning ;p Firefox Download Day - Proxx - 2008-06-20 Nobody else having problems with Greasemonkey? Either since the last Greasemonkey Update or the Firefox Update it's not working well anymore... at least the "substitute keywords" extension. I can't see the substituted keywords in Review-Mode anymore, only in learning mode it looks like it should. And also I can change the kanji itself now... Edit: "Kanji Links (0.8)" isn't working as well...
Firefox Download Day - lazar - 2008-06-21 <3 Firefox 3 .... how do you get it in Japanese? Firefox Download Day - Transtic - 2008-06-21 Same happened to me here... just hadn't realized that it was because of FF. =/ A FF3 working update would be really appreciated. lazar Wrote:<3 Firefox 3 .... how do you get it in Japanese? You have 2 options: - Download the Japanese version or - Use Quick Locale add-on. Quick Locale seems to be broken at this moment, but most probably they are going to update it sooner or later -I hope so. Firefox Download Day - Proxx - 2008-06-21 Since I disabled "Kanji Links", "Substitute keywords" is working properly again. But there are still some mysteries left. "Gently expire" expires no matter if I am actively using the site or not. "Change kanji font" is working, but when I select and mark a kanji, the half of it disappears. Actually I don't think it's the fault of firefox, it's more like greasemonkey is acting strangely. Maybe I should try to reinstall Greasmonkey but what will happen to my substituted keywords? I don't want them gone... Firefox Download Day - Transtic - 2008-06-21 I tried disabling "Kanji links", but "Substitute keywords" keeps working the same way. =( Firefox Download Day - Proxx - 2008-06-21 Yes sorry I figured out that it only helped for the study area. The review area still doesn't work. It's really strange. Firefox Download Day - woelpad - 2008-06-21 I tried "Substitute keywords" and it worked for me. That was before I used the Quick Locale add-on, after which point FF3 bailed out on me. I'm now using FF3 beta 5, because the only fix I saw so far was to uninstall FF completely (including private settings, I guess, as I already tried without them) before reinstalling. Your keywords are saved in a file called prefs.js, on Windows that would typically be in C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<jumble>.default\, where "Application Data" is a hidden folder, so you need to set your folder settings (Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options, 3rd tab) so as to see them. (For a different approach, see here, or simply search your file system). Back up that file and you should be safe. To know why scripts fail, open your browser's error console after starting the review, browse to the end, and look for a message in bold. If you could report that, I'd have something to go on. To Transtic, one thing I'd do is to disable all GM scripts, except the Substitute one, then if that one works, turn the others on one by one, reloading the review page each time, to pinpoint which one(s) are culprit. |
