RTK3 out of order - radical_tyro - 2008-06-16

I found mention of people doing RTK3 out of order; say when one comes along an RTK3 kanji in one's reading, vocab lists, etc. I tried adding up to frame 3006, but they all went in the blue stack and I can't mark any of them as 'learned' to get them going. I think it would work if I could move all blue to failed, but that doesn't seem possible. How do you do it out of order?

Well, what I'm doing is using Anki only for those kanji that are currently not in the rotation. I'm slowly adding in RTK3 in RevTK (about 30 a week), so when I'm done there I'll remove them from Anki.

I only add kanji that pop up in words from my sentences. There's not many.

Thanks for the replies but I wanted to be able to do them out of order on RevTK so I could benefit from the shared stories and such. Also, one day I'll probably go through RTK3 in order and it'll be a joy to have a handful already done Smile. Here's what I came up with.

- Add up to 3006 (save the 3007th for when you really do all of RTK3 Wink).
- Click the blue stack.
- Paste this in the location bar of your browser and hit return (tested in Safari and Firefox 3 on os x)
Code:
javascript:function fail(){Review.fFlip(true); Review.fSubmit('no'); setTimeout("fail()", 100)} fail()
After a few minutes they will all be failed and you can now click the learned button on any kanji out of order. When you get kanji wrong during reviews, they'll fall back into the failed pile but you can sort the failed list by date to find them.

I've been relearning my vocab from scratch (so I can write it all and really recognize it) the past week and so far have run into a handful of RTK3 kanji and 1 in neither volumes (鍼, from my intro text Tongue).

Oh yeah and it's really cool to see this on the homepage:
123 member(s) reviewing today.

Cool

You've obviously already set your way in doing this, which is great, but I just wanted to mention that you don't actually have to use RevTK's SRS system to use the stories. You can type in the number or keyword of any kanji and get all the information on it, whether it's added or not.
