iPhone/iPod touch and dictionary for words or kanji - rich_f - 2008-07-17 I had problems with the regular web interface-- the giant buttons on the left side crowded the screen, and my huge cards didn't fit well, and either way, the buttons wind up small enough that I have to scroll and zoom in for my giant fingers. Since the regular interface uses frames, when I zoom in to get the buttons more accurately, I have to zoom out on the next card to read it, then scroll some more... it's actually more work than the keitai interface for me. I find the keitai interface to be quick enough, even if there's a little eyestrain involved. It requires less gesturing. iPhone/iPod touch and dictionary for words or kanji - resolve - 2008-07-17 I made a change to the simple web interface which should start things zoomed in by default. What do you think? iPhone/iPod touch and dictionary for words or kanji - dilandau23 - 2008-07-17 resolve Wrote:I made a change to the simple web interface which should start things zoomed in by default. What do you think? As always, fantastic work and timing. My old phone gets retired at the end of the billing cycle, and I was thinking I may have to give up phone study until you found time to whip up an iPhone interface. As far as I am concerned, this is all I will need. Thanks! iPhone/iPod touch and dictionary for words or kanji - rich_f - 2008-07-17 It's brilliant! Perfect! iPhone/iPod touch and dictionary for words or kanji - kfmfe04 - 2008-10-23 Has anyone found a Japanese->Japanese dictionary for 2.1? For NON-jailbroken units, please. Thx. Never mind - this looks like it's close enough to what I'm looking for (not exactly J->J, but more of a AJATT-type dictionary): http://www.monokakido.jp/iphone/wisdom.html This dictionary is meant for Japanese learning English, but it's actually a good resource for learning Japanese in Context for JLPT2 to JLPT1 level students. -------------------------------------------------------- For those who are interested, I recommend this dictionary for all levels: http://www.codefromtokyo.com/japanese It's got JLPT, 常用漢字 by grade, and many, many more lists. You can add words to your vocab lists. It's better as a study-tool than free dictionaries like Kotoba! (which is also not bad). -------------------------------------------------------- For learning new vocabulary, I see myself doing the following 1. Look up an English word in Wisdom, like "international" 「通例 名 の前で」国際的な、国家間の、国際上の Kennedy International Airport ケネディ国際空港 call on the international community for support 国際社会に支援を求める international trade 国際貿易 an international conference [agreement] on human cloning 人のクローン化に関する国際会議「協定」 ... 2. Now, I forgot how to pronounce 支援 so I switch to the codefromtokyo dictionary, use Chinese handwriting input and find the reading しえん This is a little bit annoying jumping back and forth between the two dictionaries, but learning the words in context like this helps the word stick better. Also, it's a good break from doing too much SRS. Both dictionaries cost around $20-25 each. |
