The main problem that I sometimes don't know the meaning of the keyword, as English isn't my native.
I hope to finish 3030 kanji by the middle of December so that I can began something more interesting this year.
English is my Native language and there are dozens of words I don't understand like Camellia, Marquis, Promontory, Repudiate etc... so don't worry about it! To say the point of RTK is to associate the Kanji with something you recognize he really did choose some strange keywords.

I finished RTK 1 several weeks ago and decided not to try RTK 3 right now.
I'm studying Tae Kim's guide right now and learn kanji in words/sentences. I think this is better then learning kanji just by themselves, especially in cases when keywords have nothing in common with the real meaming of the kanji. So I modify flashcard's keywords to one of the actual meanings and review them (so now I don't review all the 2042 kanji, but those, which I really meet.

Good luck, and I must say, without this community I wouldn't be here!
ありがとう!
Mine was in the 50's and 60's until I reached about 1800-1900. You're doing well compared to how I did. Now, however. it's about >90% and I only review 30-40 cards a day.

Thank goodness I'm almost there. I'm at frame 1586! I am hoping to be done by the end of the year.

I'm getting seriously burned out, though.

Made it to 3/4 of the way today. The last few days have been pretty rough, but today went surprisingly smooth. Trying to finish off my major push to get this done in 6 weeks. If I keep up with my goal, I will be done New Years Eve. As a former runner, this reminds of the bell ringing while you start the last 400m of the mile.

See you all at the finish line!

I'm using 6th edition, with 2200 kanji. so my 3/4th isn't until 1640 X_X

I'm on 1430 now, reviews are going crazy (200ish) the past couple days.

On frame 1531. 3/4 of the way done! - Silja - 2013-01-11

1650 passed! I'm using the 6th edition, so this is my 3/4. Smile

I'm up to 1616, chapter 42. Shooting to be done adding cards (RTK1) sometime in March, which would put me at ~8 months total. My retention hovers around 90%, and I typically add 2 chapters or 60 new cards a week.

Lately reviews have been getting rather lengthy though, 70~80 cards. Oh well!

One thing that is amazing though - I love how in my reading online or games, how there are more kanji out there that I recognize, than those that I don't. It is neat the intuition that RTK gives you, how you can understand at least the meaning of things, even though I can't read them yet. And when I finally find the kanji for a word I already know, it feels great making those connections mentally for the first time.

1710... I made it!

I've noticed a slow down though, time constraints for the most part.

Finally!!!
Kanji n. 1650 of the 6th edition!!! Yeah!

On frame 1531. 3/4 of the way done! - Daikoru - 2013-02-28

I can't believe I've reached the 3/4 of the 2000 Kanji! I can't believe I've kept going for that long, with no teacher! I can see the end, the end of a long project, the first long project I'll have fulfilled! And I'm not even feeling close to giving up, in fact, I still am having fun while reviewing!

On frame 1531. 3/4 of the way done! - bimspramirez - 2013-04-04

YES! Finally, I reached this point. ^^ It is getting boring and slower for me because I can hardly connect a story from one kanji with other kanji.

On frame 1531. 3/4 of the way done! - dunble - 2013-04-25

Thought I would try to knock out the final quarter quickly by upping my new daily kanji limit from 25 to 30-40, but it's hard to keep motivation when it takes me 2-3 hours to review another 150. On the plus side I am at least hovering around a 90% retention rate.

I still think it's amazing that these characters that were utterly jibberish to me a few months ago I can now recognise.

Reached 1538 this morning. This last quarter is definitely tiring but by the end of the month I'll never have to open this text book again, and instead just focus on grinding grammar and then vocab.

1532 Cool

Slow but steady.
I started on January 30, 2013
Hit 500 on March 10, 2013
May 3rd, 2013 hit halfway
June 15, 2013 I'm at 3/4 the way done!!!!!

Wow, another 510. I'm going to go at a pace of 20 a day for another 27 days and I'll be finished!

On frame 1531. 3/4 of the way done! - ryanjmack - 2013-06-15

Not too many people passing through here recently... Hm.

On frame 1531. 3/4 of the way done! - Northern_Lord - 2013-06-15

Congrats. That's a good progression. If I were not stuck in compulsory military service I think I could have kept a similar, steady, pace.

I'll be here sometime before the middle of July I think.. Currently at 930, learning only 10 per day.
EDIT: 950! Only 71 before I reach downhill too...

Hit the 300 left to go mark, almost there!!!

On frame 1531. 3/4 of the way done! - hituiuc - 2013-06-27

Got 1/4 left. Never thought I'd get here, but that'll make the finish line so much sweeter.

Boldly go onwards, Xiears and Hituiuc! There's no stopping now!
