re: Alfonso Japanese language series - veepo - 2016-02-17

In regards to the last comment in the Alfonso thread dissing the Alfonso series (see here: http://forum.koohii.com/thread-5619.html)

I registered here just to say that I disagree completely - Alfonso was by far the best self-learning Japanese language system I found during my 3 years studying in Japan. Using the books on their own would  be tough (as it would be for any language course), but combined with the audio recordings of native speakers repeating exercises at natural speed and intonation, it was incredibly effective. (For spoken Japanese. Writing is another issue, naturally.)

And I don't seem to be alone in my view. This from a review of 31 Japanese Language texts: "The results of our investigations showed that the Alfonso course was the only practicable text by such a margin that a discussion of the pros and cons of the other 31 textbooks considered seems unnecessary ..."

Just saying, worked like a charm for me. And remarkably comprehensive.
