Making RTK3 frames matter with REAL names. - Dovetron - 2015-12-21

Hey all,

In my escapades through RTK3 territory I have found myself relatively uninterested in kanji that are only used in names compared to ones used for verbs etc. Why should I care? The answer is: "I only care if I know someone who's name contains the character."

SO! I want to make a sort of compendium of famous people who have RTK3 kanji in their name.

ex's of people who have successfully motivated me to learn a new RTK3 kanji:

岩田 Iwata Satoru (creator of pokemon)/ 悟Goku

山 和洋 Hatakeyama Kazuhiro (baseball player)

[NSFW] 坂 舞 Nadasaka Mai

it doesn't have to be RTK3, so please post some names of people that had a kanji you'd never seen before!!

You may have picked some poor examples there.

悟る, 覚悟 and 灘 are common words. 覚悟しろ is by law required to be used 8 times in every episode of anime ever made.

Admittedly 畠 is mostly used in names but it's an alternative for 畑 in a few words.

Sweet thanks for the additional info. I guess I mean that the first times I saw these were in names instead of in words, particularly灘 and 畠. For curiosity now, what situations can you use 灘 for in practice outside of names?

I've only ever seen it in 玄界灘 and people's names.

It appears in a lot of place names but retains the meaning of the word, eg:

伊野灘
伊予上灘
園灘
下灘
角力灘
喜多灘
向灘
江灘
(and *many* more)

I *thought* it was in a core10k sentence but it turns out it's not. Seems I put it on a self-made card, no doubt to enhance my kanjipeen Rolleyes

Satoru Iwata the creator of Pokemon? Do you mean the ex-president of Nintendo? I'm 99% sure he didn't create Pokemon.

Sorry this isn't exactly on-topic but that was difficult for me to overlook.
