Help understanding difference in meaning - Kygen - 2015-12-16

Hi!
New to this forum and hope to meet great friendly people! !  Smile

We are taking a Japanese  1 class through Rosetta stone and loving it for the most part. Been using the English translation of words to try and make it a bit easier as the "typing  your answers in characters" can be glitchy. .. .

Here is my question :
The following 4 phrases are supposed to be related to skirts, pants and dresses. The ENDINGS are confusing and the associated pictures do not do a good job of displaying the difference.

Looking for clarification on difference between:
.....  haite AND .... kite

1.  Onna no hitotatachi wa sukaato o haite imasu

2. Kare wa shatsu o kite imasu

3. Onnanokotachi wa wanpiisu o kite imasu

4. Karera wa zubon o haite imasu

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you!

They both mean put on or wear. Haite imasu is only for clothing below the waist, kite imasu can be any clothing.

When I saw this thread, I remembered something I saw on Reddit a while ago that may or may not be helpful for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/comments/3uo5n2/how_to_wear_clothes/

The way I remember it is, if it's anything from the waist down (underwear, jeans, shoes, socks, etc) then I use "haku" (haite imasu). For things that go on my upper body (such as shirts), then I use kiru (kite imasu).

Thank you! Thank you!

A distinction we totally would have missed without your input.
