Hall of Fame - howdycowdy - 2008-04-12 Maybe this is stupid or has been discussed elsewhere, but I think it would be cool to have a hall of fame for stories. Maybe the top ten stories based on number of stars and/or a top 10 ranking of members whose stories have received the most stars. Anyone else think so? Hall of Fame - meolox - 2008-04-12 You know I think this is a good idea, I don't think it's come up before, I've seen some really outstanding stories, stories like Nukmarine's story for favor come to mind, 79 stars at this moment! The most stars I've gotten is 17. Would be fairly easy to implement I imagine so ファブリス could do it when he's done refactoring if he thinks it's a good idea, though it could create a bit of competition which is fine by me, just as long as we get more outstanding stories

I've seen so many times people flooding forums with garbage just to raise postcount that I think the stories' quality will just decrease overall, specially when it's so easy to trick the system (just opening a new account). Hall of Fame - Zarxrax - 2008-04-13 I'm not really sure I see the point of this, because as you go through each kanji in your normal studies, you are obviously going to see the top-ranked stories, right? I agree with dr jones that this might lead to some kind of gaming of the system. You might see people start "flagging" stories just because they think it shouldn't be on the list or something. Hall of Fame - nac_est - 2008-04-14 I don't think that kind of flooding would happen here. First, those things are the work of kids, and this forum is quite mature, as meolox pointed out. Second, there are not that many members here. Hall of Fame - Nukemarine - 2008-04-14 I don't think it's really necessary. While a star total could be a nice addition to one's profile (in addition to how many cards you have in the fourth stack or higher), there's little need to create a top ten list. However, let us create a Hall of Shame. Where in we list the top worst reasons posted on other sites as to why RTK does not work. I'll start it off. 1. You're not learning the pronunciation of the Kanji. What good is that book. Hall of Fame - DrJones - 2008-04-14 nac_est Wrote:I don't think that kind of flooding would happen here. Also, even though people that learn languages tend to be quite mature, japanese also attracts lots of anime weirdos that just come and leave, and they do tend to be pretty immature (just pointing facts based on personal experience). Hall of Fame - Dragg - 2008-04-14 Are you sure you really *want* to see the top-ten highest rated stories? Sure, they are useful mnemonics, but taken out of context they might look an awful lot like the pornographic ravings of a mind-altered homeless man. (thanks for that crotch primitive, heisig! :p) |
