Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - gdaxeman - 2012-06-26 This is the new spreadsheet with the characters from Remembering the Hanzi 1 and 2 (Traditional and Simplified) books paired, when possible, with the equivalent characters from Remembering the Kanji 1 and 3. It can be helpful, for example, for those who have finished RTK and now want to see which and how many characters from the hanzi books they'd need to learn, use it as an electronic index, or any other creative use they can come up with. Converted to Google Docs: → Heisig's Remembering the Kanji vs. Hanzi (RSH+RTH+RTK spreadsheet) And the original, unconverted Excel spreadsheet: → RTH+RSH+RTK-v27-shared.xlsx (click and then go to File → Download, or press Ctrl+S in there.) It's marked as read-only to make things easier for me, by not having to police an editable version and such, but if you want to edit it yourself just make a copy or download it. This version supersedes the previous one that I had posted last year which included only the characters from the first Remembering the Hanzi books. The source for the RSH2 and RTH2 data is the respective thread opended by aphasiac in the RTH forum, and I included many updates such as those reported in the development log thread. New! In the latest version were included new tabs/worksheets with: • All the 12,045 single-character entries from the latest CC-CEDICT version at that time, with definitions and readings, segmented into multiple lines when the character has multiple readings that vary according to its meaning. Most of these entires are hanzi, some are radicals, and just a few are kanji; • All the 2,178 hanzi covered by Alan Hoenig in his book Chinese Characters - Learn and Remember 2,178 Characters and Their Meanings. ================================================== Screenshot in Excel 2010: ![]() Note: Google Docs messes with the table formatting, so if you want it in Excel you'll have to reapply it; for that, just select the table contents, press "Format as Table" then choose a style you like; the green one I used above is Table Style Light 18. It's also a good thing to choose the right fonts for each character set, which in Windows Vista and later could be Microsoft JhengHei for TH, Microsoft YaHei for SH, and Meiryo for K. Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - gdaxeman - 2012-07-23 Spreadsheet updated, now with a highly improved character pairing and a column ordering much more suited to check the character and keyword differences (see screenshot above.) Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - HerrPetersen - 2012-07-23 Great resource! Thanks for putting in the work. Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - turvy - 2012-07-27 It's not working here. It opens and displays the spreadsheet for like 2 seconds and then crashes / disappears. Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - gdaxeman - 2012-07-28 turvy Wrote:It's not working here. It opens and displays the spreadsheet for like 2 seconds and then crashes / disappears. So try downloading the original, unconverted Excel 2010 spreadsheet: RTH+RSH+RTK-v11-shared-version.xlsx (click and then go to File → Download, or press Ctrl+S in there.) But I must say yours is very cryptic error report, so there's not much else I can do to help. Maybe it's your browser, so you could try a different one such as maybe Google Chrome in a desktop computer, which often works very well with Google Docs (in case you're not using it; if you do, then try another one such as Firefox). If you're trying to open it in a mobile device, then most likely than not it will not work anyway. Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - Dunki - 2012-08-06 Hi gdaxeman, I recently completed both RSH 1 and 2 and here are the differences that I have found so far between the RSH2 book and your Excel sheet. These are the correct hanzi from the RSH2 book: o #1993 :: 征 :: solicit :: Queue... Correct o #2776 :: 佣 :: put to work :: Person... rack o #2797 :: 膊 :: shoulder to arm :: Flesh... gummed label Btw, thanks for compiling and sharing this exhaustive and comprehensive list. ![]() @+, Dunki Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - gdaxeman - 2012-08-07 Thanks Dunki, spreadsheet updated now. If you find anything else just say and I'll fix it as soon as possible. Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - Dunki - 2012-08-07 Ok no problem. Just one more question: I haven't found a column for the number of strokes. I have entered it in my deck so if you find it useful to add it, I will be glad to provide these numbers. Hope it helps. @+, Dunki PS: In my paperback edition of RSH2, #2990 is simply hibiscus (B) and not cottonrose hibiscus (B) but maybe the latter is better. Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - gdaxeman - 2012-08-09 Upcoming updates I'm going to add a tab with all the hanzi and their meanings available in the most up-to-date version of CC-CEDICT (12,000+ single-character entries out of 103,700 headwords, distinguishing multiple readings associated with different meanings), plus all the hanzi and keywords available in the Chinese character book by Alan Hoenig*, which will answer previous requests/comments that were made in other threads. Maybe also a frequency order if I can find one that suits it well. Just posting it here as an accountability thing, or else I end up doing nothing since I've been postponing it for a while. * Alan Hoenig released in 2009 a book which is similar to but overshadowed by Heisig's (there are some significant differences, such as the fact that he uses the most common meaning for the characters, something that Heisig often doesn't do, and gives stories for all of them). In his EZChinesey website there's an Anki deck with all the characters, keywords and readings used, plus an index which helps finding in the book their accompanying stories and components. Thanks for pointing to the reference of Alan Hoening's book that I wasn't aware of. @+, Dunki Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - gdaxeman - 2012-08-09 Ok, I've just added the CC-CEDICT and Dr. Alan Hoenig's tabs/worksheets to the spreadsheet; updated links in the first post. Simply talking about doing it compelled me to do it faster. • CC-CEDICT tab: all the 12,045 single-character entries from the latest version of CC-CEDICT at that time (2012-08-08 07:55:21 GMT, with 103,732 headwords, traditional and simplified variants.) I converted the tone numbers to tone marks because that's just so much better. • Hoenig tab: all the 2,178 characters covered in his book, with keywords. Doesn't include the components (basically the same thing Heisig calls primitives.) Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - pjp61 - 2013-02-11 Thank you for preparing this spreadsheet - a brilliant resource. I have a question about the "RSH Lesson" field. The data in this field seems correct for characters RSH#1 to 1500 (i.e. all of RSH Volume 1 characters), but there seem some errors for RSH# 1501 and above. For example RSH#1501 is listed as being in lesson RSH1-L01, and RSH#1502 as being in RSH1-L02, etc. Is this data actually in error? If so, could I ask you to update the spreadsheet with the correct data? Spreadsheet with RSH + RTH + RTK! - KBurchfiel - 2013-03-14 This is like the Rosetta Stone for Japanese and Chinese learners!
