The dictionary is pretty ace nonetheless.

ooops

There is a CEDICT addon for it though, not that I'd recommend CEDICT.

Fabrice needs to make the background for the hanzi section red or something so it's more obvious.

There is also a Japanese-Chinese EPWING dict out there, but it doesn't seem to work right.

I'd planned on using a program like Chinese Writer with VMware Fusion:

Although I'd also love a native OS X dictionary...

StarDict is cross-platform: http://stardict.sourceforge.net/download.php

Dictionaries can be found here: http://yeelou.com/huzheng/stardict-dic/ (Hint: Some links are to folders w/ subfolders) - There's also a torrent for Stardict's dictionaries, for those unscrupulous souls who use such things.

小词典 Small Chinese Dictionary is free.

My only issue with the buil-in dictionary is if you search simplified and the current dictionary if traditional you get no results, and vice versa.

Alright, so I did a bit of searching and found 2 Japanese-Chinese/ Chinese- Japanese dictionaries you can use:
1. http://cid-6dc830062ba7e6a3.office.live.com/browse.aspx/ebwinDictionaries
Download the CJDXG files and un-rar them.

2. http://www.rayfile.com/zh-cn/files/ce8ee885-321c-11de-98cf-0014221b798a/8e96a7a6/
You'll need to download the program 'RaySource' in order to download that one, but it is a decent dictionary (albeit a primary school one, you need to search かなしい instead of 悲しい etc).

They're both .ebz files, which you can use with EBMac:

What's EBMac?

Could you add these to the Chinese Resources pinned thread? (create your own edit-whenever-you-like post entry there)?

An EPWing viewer for Mac, the windows equivalent is 'EBWin':

Sure, I'll add them.

Hit the mother lode:

That's a download link to one EPWING dictionary, scroll down a bit and there are a bunch more, all easy to download.

I use MDBG Chinese-English Dictionary for Mac OS X, which I absolutely love. It plugs into Dictionary.app, is far superior to the Japanese dictionary, and has lovely colouring syntax, support for traditional and simplified, and all kinds of really nice features:

http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?page=chinese_dictionary_mac_osx

There is a free trial with quite a few words, and the full version costs $19.90 USD. Some of the best money I've spent in my Chinese studies!

That dictionary looks great.

I'm now trying to find a C-J/J-C EPWING dictionary that supports traditional characters.
So far, I've found this cool looking iPhone dictionary:

I think TranslateIt is best dictionary for Mac users. It has several new and advance features that are enough to satisfy the needs of the users. Best part of this application is that it is available in several languages. You can easily access the features of this dictionary.
