Efficient way of learning how to read - TooNice - 2011-02-22 Hi everyone, I am hoping to get some advice as to how I could pick up how to read traditional characters in the most efficient way possible. Here are a couple of things about myself: 1. I can comfortably speak Mandarin at a conversational level. I can follow news, movies and songs sufficiently well that I can miss out some words and still pick up the context. 2. I've never learnt how to read in Chinese, so I don't how to read 'pinyin', or transcribe Chinese words to English characters. 3. I have learnt Kanji before and should be able to recognise close to a 1000 Japanese characters. I use Anki, it has been great help. Since my goal is recognition (and perhaps typing), I am wondering if I could use an Anki deck in recognition mode and plough through the basics. Is there a deck that covers a few hundreds of the most frequently used characters as a starting point? Cheers. |
