Learning only to read Japanese after learning Chinese - pjdekl - 2011-02-02 Hi, Since I've learnt more then 3000 Hanzi, I started to learn to read Japanese (not speaking it and not having any listening comprehension) I am aware of the fact that Japanese use a lot of grammatical endings which someone can't understand without any grammatical knowledge of Japanese. Therefore I used the "Remembering the Kana" book by Heisig and worked through "The Oxford Japanese grammar and verbs" book by Jonathan Bunt: http://books.google.de/books?id=NbhpQgAACAAJ&dq=Japanese+Grammar+and+Verbs+Oxford&hl=de&ei=uqpJTdO_EsXtsgbt_pm8Dw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CDMQ6AEwAA In the beginning it was really hard to understand the grammar, but after reviewing/rereading this book I am very astonished how much I understand now from Japanese written material. I started now to read authentic Japanese material using this annotation web page: http://www.wordchamp.com/lingua2/Reader.do Do you have similar experiences in "learning" Japanese this way? Or experiences having first started to learn Chinese and then Japanese? |
