Difference between たまらない and かなわない and between 仕方がない and ならない - Kuroro - 2015-08-11
I just can't seem to figure out the difference between these constructs:
て-form + たまらない / かなわない both of these apparently mean 'can't stand something' 'something is unbearable', but what's the difference? I noticed that たまらない can also have a positive nuance (to be dying to do something…) whereas かなわない only seems to be used in annoying situations, but when they both refer to a negative scenario are they interchangeable?
て-form + (仕方/しょう/しよう+がない) / ならない these instead should mean something like 'can't help but do something', again is there any difference?
Moreover are some of these more formal than their counterparts?
