Is there a topic which collects all unofficial primitives, that is the ones not defined by Heisig?

For example the left of 雌, it is "stop" + "spoon" but it appears in other kanji, included "紫" ("purple, violet").
So I gave it the meaning of "violetta" (the Disney singer).

I've seen in the story section of the site there are many users which suggest their one primitives but I wonder if there was ever any attempt to collect all of those primitives anywhere?

Another example is the right of 穏 but I know there are more, so I think it will be useful for new users of RtK to know in advance at least the more common ones so they will write their own stories in accord to this.

For example I've made the first story with all three distinct elements (vulture, broom, heart) only to realize this combination appears in other kanji so it makes sense to give it a meaning (I've called it "CONDOR", it is like a vulture, and it is considered as a "broom" because it cleans the Andes of the dead organs like the hearts left there by other predators).

Note "condor" is Heisig's name for the right side of 揺.

If you click "Website" by my icon and check the first two links in that post there is that kind of list. Not all the combinations are named though.

A book I saw on etymology called the right side of 穏 "hide away".

You're right! Thank you Vempele for making me note this! (I gave the right side of 揺 another name so it is not a problem for me but I hope I've not made confusion for other users!)

Katsuo thank you! I'll check it right now Big Grin

I thought the right side of 揺 was "condor" because it is made up of vulture+king+mountain and the thinking is that a CONDOR is KING of the MOUNTAIN ruling over the VULTURES.

深探亮売 all have crown + human legs, which lots of people make mean "mini skirt". I do too, as it works well for these stories.

other things that are helpful are slightly different mnemonics for the old forms of primitive

者 vs right side of 賭 = puppet(left kaji) love doll(right kanji, extra stroke between 4th and 5th).

夕 vs 月 vs 然燃 first 2: flesh (or moon). I make the last one "maggoty flesh", taking the extra stroke as a little maggot squirming around.

stuff like that is good for me. It's not all the ones I used, but the ones that comes immediately to mind!

might be worth learning 睾丸の睾 and 澤 with the same mnemonic. I don't have RTK3 so I don't know what Heisig makes it.I just used the separate elements.

edit: going through my reviews right now, and got reminded of this thread. 愛優慶憂 all have ricardio the heart man, a character from adventure time that is a heart with walking legs.

I'd say that making a primitive that is not directly one of the direct Kanji meanings is not as useful as using the direct meaning when possible. 隠れるHide in the Tower 阝 from the Ambulance 急 with the Vulture logo ⺤ on top, and 穏やか yourself by eating bread 禾, Follow the Eightfold 丰丰 path from 穏やか to not eating bread,(-禾) to 智慧 Wisdom.

(Like how simplified Chinese actually keeps the ambulance on the right 稳 for 穏やか,隐 for 隠れる.)
I'd also say that some of these get alot easier when studied together with Chinese, or at least the old Japanese forms.

Fingering Old Canned meat 扌,䍃 makes one Shaky, even if it is New Vulture in a Can. Since 遥 the name kanji comes so often as 遙, and the 謡う becomes 謠う in some fonts

Also Chinese for 謡う=谣 simplified 謡 Trad.

Note that in RTK3 "stop + spoon" is treated as a primitive and is given the keyword "this here".

I believe there are some other elements of characters that are not primitives in RTK1 but are primitives in RTK3.

Thank you john, kapalama and dovetron!

That primitive name is the demonstration of why I hate some of heisig's keywords xD this here, so-and-so, envy, envious and so on ._. I'm seriously thinking to add images as visual keywords, in fact I think I'm going to open a topic about it xD

Heisig wrote me back after I asked him about going up to level one in the proficiency tests the 6355 saying I have all the primitive elements needed to study the rest of them by going through volume one and three. We'll see how it all works out. I am less than a week away from finishing rtk1 the fifth edition.

At one point, I knew the answer to this question, but the 冖 ル/儿 only appears on top in those two characters with 木 (深い,探す), right? Also is it confusing to just call it Joke, from 冗談?

Separate Question:

Can you run down how you made those stories for 愛優慶憂 work? I never made that connection between these characters. Are there any more 冖, 儿,夂 characters?
