Reinventing the Kanji ( Opinions Welcome ) - David053090 - 2015-06-28 Hello all, Right to the point. I am/have created a method for Kanji studying that I feel will be helpful to those starting their Kanji journey. I have come up with an idea that; we all use a "blank" Kanji for the words we wish to express in the sense that... we try to imagine a visual for Mountain and we see 山... However with more complex Kanji, we can easily get lost in the STORY. My idea has lead me to create something called the KANJI VISUALS. The method is simply... emplement a VIDEO image WITHIN the kanji itself to represent an accurate meaning towards the word. I have created an instagram page for it already https://instagram.com/kanjivisuals/ --------- My questions and concerns are 1. Kanji can have different meanings when paired with another thus making the ONE definition almost invalid... but in my descriptions I have the other meanings for the Kanji to save the trouble. 2. Finding the videos and making the descriptions and editing them takes god awfully long and after 60 something Kanji I have not updated in a couple weeks in search of a faster method... Im averaging about 8 Mins a kanji which... isnt really bad but not good either. For only 3000 Kanji it would be 400 consecutive hours of work. I use Adobe After effects to make the videos but if I just had an APP or software that could do it all in one that would be great. 3. Would this be a great deck to make in ANKI? The video files are no more than 500kb and would only be about 1.5GB if completed... 4. What are the flaws to a method like this? What can I also improve on? 5. Is anyone willing to help with ideas or videos? If this is infact a valid and good idea I am willing to invest and pay ( compensate ) for any work done. Reinventing the Kanji ( Opinions Welcome ) - tikka - 2015-06-28 Sorry for being rude, but this is not going to help anyone in any way. I'm just some guy on the internet and that's just my opinion but still. Your problem with "getting lost in the story" sounds like a result of not transforming the stories into images properly. Imagining a visual mountain for 山 is not that different from imagining a visual rabbit climbing to the sky to beat the crap out of the sun so night can begin for 晩 or a visual guy watching the bulldozer and so on for 鬱. It's a skill that can be practiced and perfected and you can always ask for help on this forum if you need some tips. There's a lot of helpful people around! Anyway, it's interesting to see if other people like your method. Such a good image, thanks! Reinventing the Kanji ( Opinions Welcome ) - Kuzunoha13 - 2015-06-29 I don't think this is going to be too helpful. I found myself focusing on the videos instead of the shape of the kanji, and it's hard link them together. You might as well just use Heisig. Reinventing the Kanji ( Opinions Welcome ) - tetsueda - 2015-06-29 Won't this just give a vague idea of the shape rather than the exact components though? Basically the type of information that enables natives to recognize 薔薇, but having no idea how to write it. |
