Getting oriented in the world of Core 2k. - InfinityDelta - 2015-06-07 Hello all, I've been done with RTK (which I started with) for about a month now, and with summer rolling around, I figure I ought to get moving with some vocab. Core2k seems to be a powerful tool to get myself situated in general Japanese vocab, before moving on to SRS'sing vocab that I find through other material. Having said that, after doing quite a bit of research, I still have a few questions about setting up Core2k with Anki. In terms of importing the raw material, I've been found the pre-built Core6k Anki deck with all steps combined, as well as Nukemarine's extensive Optimized Kore spreadsheet. The prebuilt deck seems to be ordered based on the "core-index," whereas I'm under the impression that I should be using the new-opt-voc-index (Side note: is this the ordering you'd recommend for someone with very little experience in vocab and grammar?). Having said this, is there a way to reorder the deck I already have along new-opt-voc-index, or do I need to just re-build a deck from the spreadsheet by hand? Next, as I look at the card formats for the prebuilt deck that I have right now, I've noticed that they have listening on the front, either a sentence or a word, and then a lot of information on the back. I can't quite figure out what I should be testing myself on; English keyword? Kanji in the tested word? Kanji in the whole sentence? English translation of the sentence? General advice in this area would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. InfinityDelta |
