I'm sure they will also have noticed the 1 - 2 - 3 and then 4 situation.
And, by the way, I hadn't noticed the 'big' - 'dog' transformation either. He makes it funny because of his remarks that most dogs are tiny. I had never seen it that way.
Actually: humour is very often based upon making you see something that you didn't have seen before.
So, what's the problem?
You honestly never noticed that 大 and 犬, were similar? I suppose you never noticed 七 and 切 either.

He's one smart dude. He entered high school at 12 years old and started uni at 17 years old as a sophomore. I posted before but I'll say it again. I like the guy and got mad respect for his break on TV. He's big now. He's on TV almost every day. And his kanji gag isn't really funny anymore (though recently he had a few new ones which went down pretty well, I thought 必死 was funny...「必ず死ぬ、じゃーやらねーよー!」) but he's still on TV a lot. This points to his run being more long term rather than just a "boom" talent. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the next Dave Spector.

So hate on him all you want, but he's making the bucks and seems to be getting respect among young Japanese with his advice-giving on Twitter, so put them together and you've got success.

Just going to point out that this isn't remarkable. He started high school a little earlier then most, but there are a lot of students that do what he did in college. 17-18yr old is common starting for college and if you took a lot of AP courses in high school then you can pretty much negate your freshman year. I'd say most high schools in the US with AP courses have at least 10-30 students every year that jump straight to their sophomore year.

Either way I think anyone dismissing his intelligence based on the fact he acts silly during a comedy routine is not displaying the best judgement.

You can watch him on a recent episode of Shabekuri, he does the whole "loud gaijin" thing still but I think it's easier to see how good his Japanese is here.

Like I said in a previous post, I work at a company where a lot of the employees previously worked with Jason when he was still living in America. He's a good dude and a smart one, I just don't like his act. Nonetheless I'll continue to be jealous of him appearing on all the Japanese shows that I want to someday be on.

I haven't really followed this thread, but I don't hold a high opinion of anyone that attempts to perpetuate stereotypes of groups and I think that's what he's doing. It doesn't make him stupid, it just makes him another person trying to make his grab for fame.

I noticed they were similar, but I wouldn't have thought: 'why does the sign for "big" changes into something for "dog", WHEREAS dogs are small?'
