RTK1 2042 + Supplement 157 = 2199? Where is the last 1? - tripmastermunky - 2015-04-21 So I bought RTK1 6th ed, but am using anki decks that use the old edition numbering. As a result I had to combine 2 decks to make up for it. However, I ended up at 2199 kanji. This doesn't seem wrong to me, as I know in the old RTK is was 2042 kanji, and the supplement has 157. But when I look at my 6th ed RTK book, it shows a total of 2200 kanji. Where is the last 1 I'm missing? Anyone know? Sorry if this has already been answered before. RTK1 2042 + Supplement 157 = 2199? Where is the last 1? - Katsuo - 2015-04-22 It might be this one: 璽 "imperial seal". That rare kanji was omitted from earlier editions of RTK1 despite being one of the joyo set. Presumably an oversight. RTK1 2042 + Supplement 157 = 2199? Where is the last 1? - tripmastermunky - 2015-04-22 Thanks - that was it! I didn't see it because apparently there's an error in the 6th edition, where it is not listed in the keyword index in back. I tried looking it up via the stroke order index and there it was. I'll be finishing the 2200 within the next month here, going at 25 per day. Finally did it. Originally I thought I was going to do 3rd edition too, but after seeing how the RTK Supplement adds most of the useful kanji, I've decided to just skip the time required to do RTK3 and devote it to more exposure to the real language instead. |
