Where's Khatzumoto? - kazuki - 2015-03-31

AJATT has seen no activity since Oct of last year and all of his tweeting seems to have stopped around then too. Anyone have AJATT Plus access or silverspoon that knows anything? I'm just hoping the guy is okay.

Where's Khatzumoto? - Bokusenou - 2015-03-31

I'd like to know too. I don't agree with everything he says, but if it weren't for him I probably wouldn't have tried RTK, and likely wouldn't have learned kanji beyond a few hundred or so.
Last I checked he was still in Japan. There wasn't some sort of disaster in Japan in October that slipped my radar, was there?

Where's Khatzumoto? - vix86 - 2015-04-01

Life probably happened. New job or something like that, maybe he left Japan. This kind of stuff happens a lot to blogs, the writer just drops off the face of the planet. Its hard work keeping up a constructive social media stream.

Sometimes people need to unplug. I read an entertaining article a while ago about people who commit "social network suicide", only to reappear months/years later.

Where's Khatzumoto? - Zgarbas - 2015-04-01

Wasn't he still charging people though?

People can shut down the subscription on their end iirc.

Honestly, I would try to get in touch with people who have met him IRL and haven't fell off the face of the internet, like tkyosam. They might be able to call or something.

Typically, people like Khatz don't go from frequent posts and a whole online businesses to zero contact overnight without some sort of notice.

Tkyosam did upload a video on youtube with katsumoto a month ago, but the video itself is from 2014. But as vgambit said you could try to ask him, I think if he wouldn't upload a video where appears another person without its permission, so it's probable he was in touch with katzumoto recently.

If you ask him let we know what he says to you about katzumoto!

Tkyosam says in the comments that the video was "probably [from] 4-5 years ago when I was still living in Chiba."

oh, I read the comment before but I didn't see that one, sorry!

I still think the dude probably has his number, and can get in touch with him in a way the general public can't.

It sounds like the man behind Khatzu is happy, healthy, and enjoying life. Tykosam doesn't know exactly why he's not blogging anymore but vix86 nailed it.

I can't help but wonder if the delayed refund policy of silver spoon has something to do with this, but it's quite worrying. Like Zgarbas said he was charging people for a service and he's suddenly stopped providing it so it is very plausible that something serious has happened to him. This isn't the same as a blogger who gets bored of writing. He's someone who suddenly stopped showing up to work.

Khatz during his golden days. I haven't seen that video, but knowing it was recorded then brings me back to the memories of when AJATT was massive and the thing.

Pretty much this. Happy people who go on vacation say "Hey, I'm going on vacation."

They don't simply go AWOL.

I agree that it's very odd to just disappear like that, especially for him. I took a look at his products page and there's a ton there that I really had no idea about. I just hope he didn't get in over his head with all the money making and people came calling for refunds. The site is still up though, so for all we know he could be just swimming in cash and dealing with all of the customers he currently has and everyone's happy.

Where's Khatzumoto? - Zarxrax - 2015-04-03

I've known a TON of people who simply disappeared off of the face of the internet for a while. Sometimes people who are literally in the middle of working on projects with me, and I am relying on them for something. They usually just reappear at some point after a few months. It's not all that uncommon.

I don't. You shouldn't speak generally based on your anecdote.

Where's Khatzumoto? - yangchuanzhang - 2015-04-05

According to his RSS feed, he stopped publishing new posts regularly in July before posting another three posts in October. That seems more like blogging burnout to me.

Where's Khatzumoto? - chamcham - 2015-04-05

What can explain Khatzumoto's sudden and unexplainable disappearance?

Smile

On a more serious note, whatever the reason, i hope he is OK.
He inspired so many of us on this site.

I saw him in a TkyoSam video recently, don't know why I was watching TkyoSam, but I was. No idea when it was from, but he seemed like he was pretty busy.

When I was blogging, I saw this happen a lot. Happened to me as well. Zarxrax is right - not uncommon at all.

I'm sure he's fine. Probably just busy with coke and hookers.

Where's Khatzumoto? - mattimus - 2015-07-17

So did anyone find out if he's OK?

It's still an anecdote. You can't make conclusions about everyone or what is likely based on it.

I asked TkyoSam (someone who knew him in real-life) on Twitter about him. For whatever reason he insists that Khatz is okay even though he said he hasn't seen him in 2 years. Kind of fishy to me.

Where's Khatzumoto? - mattimus - 2015-07-17

I guess we'll have to take Sam's word for it then. Thanks for looking in to it.
