Hello, I'm a senior student in college, working on finishing my BA in Japanese. My final project is studying Anki, and whether the spaced repetition system it uses, as well as its other advantages, help reduce Japanese learning anxiety. As part of my final project, I'm conducting a survey on people who use Anki, and asking how it helps them.

Submitted. One comment though. There are several questions related to whether Anki reduces anxiety/stress, which makes sense considering the focus on your survey, but I'd like to offer another angle. Mostly due to my personality, learning Japanese has always been stressful for me. But I still want to do it, and Anki has helped immensely in terms of enabling me to do so. I would probably not have learned much Japanese, or at least not as quickly/efficiently, without resources like RTK and Core and I could not have tackled those without a good SRS like Anki. So you could say that rather than reducing anxiety it enabled me to take a shot at learning the core of the langage *at all*.

I've submitted a response but I wasn't sure how to answer questions 8 since my anki usage has varied greatly over a long period of time and I'm currently not using it at all. In the end I selected the option that represented my most recent escapades and then ticked "Not using now, but have used in the past" for 9.

Mm, yeah, I'm not sure either. I used to be a fairly heavy Anki user, and have just started using it again at a more relaxed pace than I used to. Should I be answering for how I use it now, or how I have used it the most?

Wow, I'm getting a tremendous amount of good information, thank you all for your help! Responding to Aikynaro and Splatted, I'd say it doesn't really matter when you are reporting from as long as you are consistent. I would pick a time either now or then to base your answers from. If you want to talk about how you used it heavily in the past, format the rest of your answers to the mindset you had then.
