Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - Laylabc - 2015-03-20 I keep downloading Anki decks that are incomplete or not quite right - which do you use? Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - Robik - 2015-03-20 I use Heisigs RTK 6th Edition [Stories, Stroke Diagrams, Readings], but it seems it was removed from Anki site. Probably because it contained copyrighted Heisig stories. Funny, because he does not provide story for all kanji and most of his stories sucks, compared with hive mind stories provided on this site... Way to go, punish people who actually bought the book. People who didn't will not buy it anyway. Try to look for full 6th edition (2200 cards) deck ideally with pictures of stroke order, which is very helpful. Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - SellingTokyo - 2015-03-20 I use the same one. It has matched perfectly to the book so far (1300ish kanji deep). The stroke diagrams are really handy, and depending on your Japanese level having a few readings there can be helpful too. Probably because it contained copyrighted Heisig stories.I use that deck too. It's pretty good. It highlights the errors in Heisig, and points out the odd incorrect keyword. I am doing 5th edition Heisig (the old Jouyou) so I'll stop adding new cards at 2042, but you can continue on to the 6th edition set as the extra kanji tack onto the end. The koohii stories are a bit inconsistent, but tend to provide a basis for making your own stories if you don't like them. This deck is okay for the 6th edition, it has no stroke order diagrams: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2756278936 Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - SellingTokyo - 2015-03-25 If it makes you feel any better, I found your site because of Anki. Actually, I started studying Kanji because of Anki, I was using it for other things and then I decided to snoop around the Japanese language area. That led me to the Heisig book, and eventually to your site. So without Anki you would have at least one user less. That being said, with all the decks disappearing, this would be an optimal moment to add your own shared deck! Probably the place where you put the story should just be a hotlink to the Koohii page about that Kanji. That way they can go to the page, copy the story they want, and paste it into their card. It would be another interesting way to drive traffic to the site, if indeed that is what you want. Just an idea. I have no idea about the politics/conflict of interest with different SRS programs. Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - ファブリス - 2015-03-25 That's an interesting idea, SellingTokyo. Never thought about it >_> Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - SellingTokyo - 2015-03-25 I wondered how easy it would be, and it looks pretty simple. If your template had this for the answer: choose a story at Kanji Koohii! (Assuming you had a field called "kanji" that had the actual kanji in it) Then they would click on the link, go directly to the correct page, they can copy the story they want, edit their card, and be on their way. At least, it looks like it is that simple. I have never made an Anki deck. Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - SellingTokyo - 2015-03-25 You know what, with your permission Fabrice I would like to try to make a deck. It looks simple, and I think I can pull this off. Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - ファブリス - 2015-03-25 Nevermind, I just had to let some frustration out I guess. Isn't the deck in question here linking to the site already? I always thought the Anki RTK deck did that, and the reviewed comments seem to suggest so. I've never hoped to compete with Anki, what would be the point? Especially as a web app. I think it's better to offer a simpler, user friendly alternative, even if that means much fewer users. I'd rather just do my thing, and I still have some good ideas for the flashcars that Anki has never done afaik. It's just the sense of entitlement I get from these decks, the way they don't even mention where the stories come from that irks me. I've deleted my post because I know I'm not being very rational about it anyway. Which Anki deck do you use for the most current RTK? - SellingTokyo - 2015-03-25 No problem. To be honest, I have used your site for the stories and I have never looked at your actually SRS program since I am already using Anki for many other things and I am happy with how it works. I am happy that your site is accessible to me even though I don't use it completely. This has also led me to this forum, which gives me a lot of ideas for how to continue my studies after I "finish" RTK1. |
