Free J-J offline dictionary - Helena4 - 2015-02-15 I don't know much about this stuff but I suggested on the yomichan thread http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?tid=7074&page=1 that a J-J dictionary be added and the creator, Foosoft said he would add J-J if someone could find him a free J-J dictionary to use. I really want to see J-J in that application so I thought I'd go hunting for the knowledge rather than waitingnfor it to come to that thread (and I can't find a good answer in google). I believe the first dictionary that he used for yomichan was EDICT, so I'm looking for something like that, I guess. Something that can be accessed by an offline program like yomichan. Free J-J offline dictionary - Bokusenou - 2015-02-15 日本語Wordnet, maybe? http://wordnetepwing.sourceforge.jp I think it's translated from the English Wordnet though, which means it's not as good as one of the commercial dictionaries. Free J-J offline dictionary - Helena4 - 2015-02-15 Thanks, that looks really cool. Does anyone else know of any similar J-J dictionaries that perhaps aren't transalated from a J-E dictionary? Free J-J offline dictionary - scooter1 - 2015-02-15 Maybe the following link gives you some free dictionary ideas. Not affiliated but purchased a few commercial (and picked up a few free) dictionaries from this guy and use them on my computer and phone. He also has some good tips on tuning your phone to use as a dictionary by the way. http://japaneselanguagetools.com/docs/other_dics.html Free J-J offline dictionary - Helena4 - 2015-02-16 There aren't really any general purpose free J-J dictionaries there though. Does anyone have any more ideas? Or does anyone know how to replace the dictionary in yomichan with a paid for J-J EPWING dictionary? Or does anyone know how to replace the dictionary in yomichan with a paid for J-J EPWING dictionary? The second option might be your best bet, since as far as I know, there's no free J-J equivalent of EDICT. The only software programs I've seen support EPWING are Rikaisama & the beta versions of GoldenDict though. I have no idea how hard it is to implement, but I think it would be much more useful than EDICT to a lot of learners who are beyond the beginner level. I know I'd at least check it out if it had EPWING support. Free J-J offline dictionary - Nayr182 - 2015-02-16 If you use a mac these is a built in jj dictionary. You just need to enable it in the settings. Free J-J offline dictionary - FooSoft - 2015-02-16 Getting Yomichan to work with EPWING requires actual dev work, it's not just a matter of dropping it in and renaming it, or anything like that. I can do it if someone lets me borrow their dictionary file to implement the change. Free J-J offline dictionary - Helena4 - 2015-02-17 You're awesome, Foosoft. I better get my hands on an EPWING dictionary then. Unless anyone else who already has an EPWING dictionary appears before then.
