I find I've gravitated to MS Gothic (the thick, blocky type that doesn't show the stroke directions). I think I find it easier to read compared with say MS Mincho which I used to use but gradually stopped using.

Just curious what others' favorite font is.

My favorite is Noto Sans CJK as it has nice fonts for all Asian languages.

Mostly MS Mincho (Win) or Hiragino Mincho Pro (Mac). MS Gothic is good too.

It depends on the size of the font, some that look great at 26 look terrible at 12 - 18. I generally like using Meiryo because it's decent even at low sizes, but if I can get away with larger then I'd go for either a Kozuka Gothic or Hiragino Maru.

I like Meiryo too. I have all my flashcards using the Meiryo and Osaka fonts to avoid the Kanji issue on Android. I find Mincho harder to read on a small screen.

HanaMin. Totally free, excellent CJK Extensions/non-BMP code point support for all your radical/primitive needs, looks good. http://fonts.jp/hanazono/

Also love the M+ family for its airy low weight fonts. Looks wonderful with kanji. Comes with monospace and proportional-width. http://mplus-fonts.sourceforge.jp/mplus-outline-fonts/design/index-en.html
