How to buy 1リットルの涙 book? - juniperpansy - 2014-12-28
So I've been looking to get 1リットルの涙, probably in ebook format. I have been hoping to get a drm free version so I can view it on any device. It is listed on amazon.co.jp, but its only in kindle format.Supposedly I can break the DRM so I can view it in other programs... but chance of success is not 100%....
Any ideas if I can get a DRM free ebook somewhere? Or even a cheap printed version? (I live in Vancouver, Canada)

I think the format is more open to what you're looking for, and it seems cheap, but whether or not you can proceed through the billing options I'm unsure. For anybody reading this lucky enough to be in America, not Canada, there is free shipping on orders over $50. Actually I have converted 100s upon 100s of DRM books in the kindle store and have yet to have one fail. It's quite easy to do actually. Refer to my post here: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?pid=215435#pid215435
Also I said it isn't possible in ubuntu but I have recently figured out how to do it in linux so if you use linux let me know. I have even been thinking about doing my own tutorial for this on here but I don't know how many people will find this useful.

@SevenSyndicate - I've read most books work but I've read Calibre screws up the odd ebook when converting
Ok now the real fun begins... For the 3 ebooks I listed all 3 are listed as "Not currently available"
Thinking they maybe are only purchasable through the kindle app, I tried searching for it in Japanese, but the search box doesn't accept Japanese characters... Next I tried searching by ISBN but it said it couldn't find anything. But is the ISBN for the printed and ebook versions even the same?
Any idea??

Ok after more farting around amazon.co.jp said that the item wasn't available in my country...
so I tried using:
-Japanese proxy server
-Changing my address to a Japanese address
- creating an all new account along with the two things above
Still doesn't work! Now I am getting this message:

Did you register your Kindle (physical device or PC/iPad app) with the amazon.co.jp account? You have to register something besides the Cloud Reader, and this requires opening the Kindle app while you still have your proxy connection open (Amazon's authentication software determines where to validate your login based on your location).
That's the only thing that I can think of. I have an amazon.co.jp account with a distinct e-mail address and a Japanese address, and haven't had any troubles. And １リットルの涙 shows as available for me on amazon.co.jp.

I thought it was good in the beginning, but the actress who played Aya, I didn't think she did a convincing job with the disease (not that I know what its supposed to look like though). That and her illness appears to get better as the show progresses. I think the movie was probably better.

I've honestly had a hard time getting into it; I'm only on Episode 3. I ditched it recently in favor of watching 偽物語 and ラストシンデレラ (both of which I've sucked into my Anki deck). I'll get back to it once I finish re-watching those.
From what I've seen so far, I really like the actress who plays the mother. The dad is a little overwraught, but I've come to expect a certain amount of melodrama from Japanese shows.

Yeah the father is terrible. He was abusive, had an IQ of about 50 and was completely 1 dimensional. For me, I remember Ako and the male lead being strong characters (as well as Aya in the first half of the series or so).
I remember the start of the series was a little slow, the middle part was the best, then the rest of the episodes were just really dragged out
There's a similiar show called Mioka. The father character is that is pretty much perfect but in that show. Really amazing to watch. All his emotions are spot on and does exactly what needs to be done. A wonderful role model but the rest of the characters in the show were 1 dimensional and retarded lol
