Cloze deletion and synonyms - kameden - 2014-11-08 How are you supposed to make cloze deletion cards with vocabulary in which synonyms exist? I was thinking of taking some problem words and making cloze deletion cards with them to help me remember them, but I notice a lot probably have synonyms. I haven't really gave it a try yet so I'm not sure how much of a problem it will be though. Also where is a good place to find sentences? Example of a bad sentence: 林檎が~です > 林檎が嫌いです There's no way I would know 嫌い for a sentence like that for example (unless I just remembered the sentence). How do I make sure that it's not ambiguous? Cloze deletion and synonyms - aldebrn - 2014-11-08 For vocab, all I have is clozed cards: kanji and kana appear as pairs of cloze-deletions, with English gloss as a click-to-see hint, whether vocab embedded in sentences or by itself. I guess the assumption baked into your question is needing English on the card? I am curious about what others have to suggest about sentence choice for cloze-deletions. The other day @vileru mentioned Linguee? But seems too spartan, just a single sentence. Cloze deletion and synonyms - kameden - 2014-11-09 I decided to put Japanese definition on the front for the word in case I didn't know. The thing is, I'm not even writing them, I'm just pronouncing them and seeing if I guess the right word. I'm not sure how helpful it will be. I plan to do it with any words I notice I'm forgetting a lot. We'll see how it works. I would still like advice though if anyone has any.
