According to RTK v.3, in the "sickness" radical, the "ice" radical is written bottom slashing stroke first then top dot last. Isn't it written like ン？With the top part first, and bottom slash last? Sorry this is confusing, but let me know if you do not understand my question.

Yes, the book is incorrect. I think that's in the errata somewhere.

Just go to Kanji Lookup, look up a kanji, and then click "SOD" to get the stroke order diagram (I assume that's what it stands for).

Oh wait, i just realized, my copy is the fourth edition. so i guess its wrong in 4th. Can anyone confirm if its ok in 3rd?. sorry for the confusion.

There are lots of errors with stroke order RtK 4th edition.
My favorite site to check the correct stroke order is: http://www.csus.edu/fl/japanese/gahoh/Japanese.html
There are quicktime movies for each kanji so that you can see where a stroke starts. Unfortunately there is no simple search function on that site so you have to use the radicals and it's slower than other sites.
WWWJDIC or http://kakijun.main.jp/ allow you to search a character quickly but they don't show where the strokes start. In fact that can be very misleading. When checking kanji stroke order on those sites, my brain started to play tricks on me. I thought I saw a motion in the animation, but that was just an illusion. Once I checked everything on the site with quicktime movies I realized I was making a few mistakes because of that.
