It seems that most of the audiobooks going around in the Japanese learning community are ones of books close to 100 years old... which are great, but it's way nicer to have audiobooks for... new books, which contain language closer to what is being used in Japan today. The only problem is... they are kind of expensive.

On websites like this these:
http://www.febe.jp/
http://www.digigi.jp/

you can pay with your American (or whatever country you are from) credit card and then download the file. I have bought three already, and they are AWESOME! They get different voice actors for each character, and occasionally sound effects are added in. Of course always sticking to the original text 100%. I would love to buy more, but I am a student with no money :'D

I was thinking if a few people each bought even one audiobook, then posted it on here for everyone else, we could all have lots of audiobooks for a very low cost!

So here are the three I purchased at febe, to start it off and let everyone see how high quality they are:

these are all 小説, but I am also interested in trying some of the more educational ones they have on there, so I can learn Japanese and something else at the same time.

I'm very tempted by this. Listening to audiobooks isn't something I really do in English but Japanese might be different, so If I enjoy the ones you posted I'll definitely return the favour. (Or if I think the chosen books were the problem)

Just listened to about 40 minutes of Ikebukero West Gate Park and it really drew me in so I'm now officially on board with this. I'll be looking for a fantasy novel as my first purchase.

I'm glad too hear it! By the way here is the text for Ikebukero West Gate Park and In the Pool:
