Getting back into study at 'N2' level - stevesayskanpai - 2014-09-24

Hi all,

I've been away from this forum, and from Japanese study, for about three years since taking and passing level N2 of te JLPT by the skin of my teeth in December 2010.

I'm keen to get back into study to improve my general proficiency. I'm thinking of retaking the JLPT N2 level, as insane as that might sound to some people, to improve my (fairly mediocre) score. N1 is simply too big a jump for me, especially given time constraints of now working full-time.

I was wondering - particularly in the four years I've been away from Japanese language study - what resources you would recommend. A mix of books and websites, combined with Anki, was always my approach. Has anything new changed? And are there any particularly good, new, JLPT resources?

I've posted this in the Learning resources thread rather than the JLPT resources one though because I thought as my aim is to improve general proficiency, it's good not to JUST stick to those resources.

In particular, I'd love to find a comprehensive tool for studying different uses of vocabulary and grammar at N2 (ish) level.

Thanks!
