IAIJ mining - cophnia61 - 2014-09-19 I'm about to start "an integrated approach to intermediate japanese" and I wonder what to do with dialogues and reading sections. From Genki I mined all the sentences, included those in the dialogues, but in IAIJ the dialogues and reading sections don't have a translation, so I might put it myself with the risk of wrong translations and wrong learning thereof. There is anyone who mined sentences from this book? Do you limited yourself to the grammar point examples? IAIJ mining - RandomQuotes - 2014-09-19 Honestly, if you're at the point where you are using IAIJ, you should be weening yourself off of translations, especially with the readings and what not. If you need something simpler, rather than translating to English, try translating the sentence into easier Japanese. I'm using my sentences deck to practice reading and to test myself on grammar, while for words I already use core1000... so maybe I could add only a simple explanation in the answer side, just in case to be sure I don't misread the sentence... IAIJ mining - Termy - 2014-09-19 IMO, mine only the grammar points and then move on to something else (with one example sentence per grammar point and nothing else). When I did Genki 1, 2 and IAIJ I mined literally everything, including adding the audio for everything that had audio (dialogues, reading/listening comprehension, etc)... I had around 4500 cards when I was done and it cluttered my deck so much I didnt get nearly enough practice/review time for each grammar point so I forgot a lot of them. It took a long time to clean up that deck... pretty ineffective if you ask me. IAIJ mining - Termy - 2014-09-22 I started cleaning up my mess of a deck, tried mining more words from native material to my separate vocab deck and started core2k/6k. I have some more decks waiting after core6k like erlogs grammar deck and kanzen decks. |
