I also posted this to Tae Kim's forums, but you guys often like a challenge too. And I spend a good deal more time lurking here, so I feel closer to this forum
I needed to translate a number of sentences from different texts for a project I'm working on. Some of them are challenging texts, so I would love another few sets of eyes. Also figured you guys like a challenge
1.なに、市販のカレールーに野菜が少し 多めに入ってるいわゆる 家庭のカレーさ。 (Abe 18)
'Like, store-bought curry roux with a few or a lot of vegetables added: so called [household] (made) curry.'
2. 『店のおでんは 牛すじと大根と ゆで玉子の三つに決めてるんだ。』 (Abe 47)
'For [the shop]'s oden, I'm deciding on beef tendon, daikon radish, and boiled eggs.'
3. マユちゃんは 母親のアケミさんがスナックのあと、託児所の帰りに たまに連れて来る 店で一番若い 常連さんだ。 (Abe 90)
'As for Mayu, with (her) mother often bringing (her) after the [snack bar] (closed), on (their) way home from the child-care center, (she)'s the shop's youngest regular.'
4. 『土曜のお昼 小学校から 帰って、作って 一人で 食べてたから。』 (Abe 140)
'Saturday afternoon I came home from school, made (food), and ate alone.'
5. 幸子ちゃん、あれからよく キャバクラの帰り、 店に寄ってく ようになる。 (Abe 141)
'After that, it became common for Keiko, on her way home from [the cabaret club], to drop by [the shop].'
6. 『たまには いいね、 他人に作って もらうのも。』 (Abe 146)
'Occasionally (this) is also, good having a person make (it for you).'
7. 父の国民服の胸にかけられた袈裟を見、血色のよい若い下士官 たちの金釦をはね上げているような胸を見た。 (Mishima 30)
'Seeing the monk's stole attached to the breast of (my) father's national uniform, I saw a chest like the blood colored ones, gold buttons thrown up, of the noncommissioned officers.
8. つぶさにそれを見ていれば、私にも人間を恕す心が、あらゆる醜さを含めて恕す心が、芽生えたかもしれないのだ。 (Mishima 20)
'If (I) am looking at that carefully, it's that there grew in me, too, a heart which forgives people, a heart which (even) forgives all the ugliness (of people).'
9. 私が戦死すれば、目の前のこの岐れ道のどっちを行っても、結局同じだったことが判明するだろう。 (Mishima 30)
'If I die in battle, then no matter which direction I take at this imminent parting of the ways, in the end (it will) probably prove to have been the same.'
10. 父が咳き入るのを看取りながら、私はたびたび保津川を窓外に見た。 (Mishima 30)
'While tending to my father's coughing fits, I frequently saw the Hozu river out the window.'
11. さて私は、金閣周辺の掃除をすますと、ようやく暑熱を加えてくる朝日を避けて、裏山へ入って、夕佳亭へむかう小径を登った。 (Mishima 47)
'Well, once I finished cleaning around the Golden Pavilion, (I) finally took a rest from the morning sun which was adding to the summer heat; (I) went to the mountain out back, and climbed the small path towards the Sekka Pavilion.'
12. 釘は一本一本、柔土に刺っていたようにたやすく抜けた。 (Mishima 314)

(I) can't think that the four of us living together was something impure, but I sometimes try to make (myself) recall, for accumulations of incomparably pure moments, that (I) can't by any means say it was completely moral either.

What's the purpose of the translations? Sometimes a more literal translation is desired if the translations are intended to be used by people learning Japanese. (cf. The Loeb Classical Library where translations are a bit more literal in order to help the learner).
