Anki for grammar? - ariariari - 2014-08-16 Hi everyone, I've wondering if anyone uses Anki for helping to "internalize" grammar. For the last few months I've been using Anki for vocabulary and it's been great. (I downloaded a desk for minna no nihongo 1, my old text book, and have been adding in vocab for genki 2 as I go thru it in class). My school is currently in break for class and I've realized that while my vocabulary has actually been growing, I feel that I've lost some of the grammar that I've learned. Whether that's just verb conjugations or sentence structures I don't know. But while I do lots of conversation exchange, and feel that my speaking and listening is either at the same level or growing, some of these finer points that I just learned are getting lost. I'm wondering if there is some way to use Anki to keep this stuff fresh in my head. Thanks a lot everyone. Anki for grammar? - juniperpansy - 2014-08-16 Anki works great for grammar too. Check out the tae kim anki deck for a well done example. Basically it just has the grammar point bolded and the answer contains a reference to the grammar section it is explained in more detail. I've found only cloze-delete but something like what you said would be better for me thank you in advance

Change the card template so that it shows "Sentence Answer" on the front of the card as opposed to "Sentence Cloze" I believe that's what you want
Anki for grammar? - mcho421 - 2014-08-22 I agree with juniperpansy, Anki does work great for grammar too. There are some pre-made Anki Decks for studying grammar. I don't have any experience with the Tae Kim deck, but a while ago a user named uisukii spent an enormous amount of effort transcribing the Dictionary of Basic/Intermediate/Advanced Japanese Grammar into an Anki Deck. Each note is focused around a key Japanese example sentence that uses a certain grammar point. It has fields for the English meaning, grammar concept, grammar concept hint, explanation of the grammar concept and more. I used a cloze-delete version, but there's also traditional sentence-meaning version if that suits you better. I think its a really great resource. Since the information comes directly from the Dictionaries of Japanese Grammar (DoJG) series its very comprehensive and detailed. Working through the cloze-delete deck really helped me remember the grammar points and introduced some important grammar points that weren't covered in the textbooks I studied. Also as a side benefit, its become much easier and faster to use the DoJG since you're already familiar with the index. If you already own a physical copy of DoJG I think the deck would be worth checking out. Anki for grammar? - ariariari - 2014-08-22 Can you please post a link to the deck you use? I see a few "dictionary of japanese grammar" decks on ankiweb. Anki for grammar? - mcho421 - 2014-08-23 ariariari Wrote:Can you please post a link to the deck you use? I tried a few decks but the one that has given me the biggest bang for my buck is "Japanese Verb Conjugations, Dictionary of Basic Jap. Grammar". I wound up deleting the others and am just focusing on this one. I was shocked that so many simple verb conjugations I forgot and was getting wrong. It's amazing how helpful this deck has been in even just a short amount of time. Thanks again. |
