Where to find Japanese subtitles ? - Linval - 2014-07-10 So I'd like to make a few sub2srs decks, but I can't find a good source of Japanese subtitles. I've searched in the forum too, but most links turned out to be dead. Does anyone know a good site ? I'm looking for Death Note subtitles in particular Thanks. Where to find Japanese subtitles ? - sunehiro - 2014-07-10 http://kitsunekko.net/subtitles/japanese/ most of the japanese-sub stuff on the net is here (Death Note included) Otherwise try googling anisource or kamigami. You might want to resync your sub with the video, in that case you can use Aegisub. Where to find Japanese subtitles ? - Linval - 2014-07-10 Wow, how come I never came across any of these websites ? Kitsunekko is particularly impressive. Tons of good stuff. Thanks a bunch ! Where to find Japanese subtitles ? - gaiaslastlaugh - 2014-07-10 For drama, check out d-addicts.com. They have more than you'll likely ever be able to watch, especially when combined with kitsunekko. Fwiw, the death note subs on kitsunekko need to be re-timed, if you are using videos that have the この番組には。。。 shpiel in them. Most of them are off by about 10 seconds. Not a hard thing to fix using Subtitle Edit. In general you will encounter such timing issues about half of the time you grab subs from kitsunekko. The subs and source files on d-addicts are more reliably in sync. Where to find Japanese subtitles ? - Roketzu - 2014-07-10 Does anyone if there are any Japanese subs for Kill la Kill? I've heard a lot of people go on about this anime and figured they wouldn't be so hard to come by -- not so it turns out. I find Japanese subs make a big difference in my comprehension over watching RAWs so they'd be nice to have. I did edit the subtitles a bit, and it works like I charm. I just created a 500 cards deck from spirited away, and now I have to restrain myself from making a 100+ cards deck for every DN episode... Subs2srs just makes it too easy. Also, there are a number of dramas based on popular manga that might appeal to you (e.g., GTO). I'm almost finished watching 斉藤さん2, which I found cute and enjoyable. (ヒョー!) You should feel free to delete aggressively, and keep only the most high-value cards. That will make your studying much more targeted, and will also allow you to import a wider variety of material in the long run. I like over-the-top and cleverly stupid stuff, if you've got any good titles to recommend ? I actually enjoyed the first few episodes of みんな!エスパーだよ!quite a lot, I should get my hands on the latest episodes... gaiaslastlaugh Wrote:Tell me about it. :-p On the plus side, as your Japanese progresses, the number of cards that will actually be useful to you (i.e., the ones that will stretch your listening and comprehension skills) will begin to diminish rapidly. I woke up the next day realizing that maaaaybe I'd really overdone it the previous night. I must've deleted around 200 cards. Mostly useless stuff that I already knew by heart, but that I kept because the snapshot and the audio /video extract were just too awesome to ignore. That's what I like to call the Hellsing Ultimate effect. Stupid, but way too cool to ditch. Anyways, I'm loving my subs2srs decks... compared to pimsleur and corexK, it's really night and day in terms of oral comprehension. While I tend to stay away from adaptations when I know live action couldn't possibly do the original justice, I also have a high tolerance for camp, so I enjoy some things others might consider ridiculous. I think the recent らんま1/2 live action adaptation, e.g., was enjoyably awful. Not a manga adaptation, but a neat little series about a girl whose dreams indirectly predict the future. [ADDED] I'm also really into 花子とアン, a semi-autobiographical story about 村岡花子, the woman who first translated Anne of Green Gables into Japanese. It's not worth the effort of trying to wish it into existence. (You could be studying instead.) Roketzu Wrote:I find Japanese subs make a big difference in my comprehension over watching RAWs so they'd be nice to have.If comprehension is the problem, there are at least a couple things you can do. my first suggestion is watch it first in English (subtitles or even dub), then watch it again and again (and again) in raw Japanese. Secondly, you can watch it raw and then read an episode synopsis of what you just watched. You aren't going to understand everything, but guessing what is going on is an important skill as a language learner anyway. There are plenty of anime blogs that talk about each episodes of different series, and Wikipedia tends to have synopses as well. (If you are watching something that follows the manga closely, you can also try reading that.) You could also just try watching something easier to comprehend. I started watching raw anime with Precure or other simple to follow shows. |
