Core 10 k studying problem with pronouciation qustion. (HELP!) - kasugano - 2014-07-02

I use this deck https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/702754122

My card settings for Anki which is recognition . . .

Front = japanese vocab with kanji and small text font context sentence

Back = vocab sound, sentence sound, hiragana vocab and picture

I test my self if I know the English meaning/s and pronunciation. Any or both wrong and I fail the card

After a long while with anki( I am starting to concern of my inability to distinguishing vocab like 年月日 which should be actually pronounced ねんがっぴ but I also think it could be ねんがぴ. Also like 緊急 should be pronounced きんきゅう and I think of きんきゅ instead. When doing my reviews I pronounce the the japanese reading and think of the meaning.

But as I am aiming just to be fluent in reading and listening japanese I was wondering if it is such a big deal? Did you have had encountered this problem and how did you solved it ?

I'm not sure I understand your problem. Are you concerned that you are making some mistake on some cards? If that's the case, then that's completely normal. It's a "problem" that can only be solved with time and persistence. As you encounter the words in the wild, they will stick more. You can't expect to learn every word by heart simply by reviewing them in Anki.

Never had this problem myself; Finnish uses a virtually identical system of long vowels/consonants.

Note the っ is there in place of the つ of がつ (月). く and ち can also transform into っ under the right circumstances; it'll become intuitive once you get used to it. And ひ (日) got turned into ぴ only because of the preceding っ (ん has the same effect, with the additional possibility of び). Thus ねんがぴ makes no sense as a possible reading: you lost the つ, and ひ become ぴ for no apparent reason (び, however, would make sense: see http://www.tofugu.com/guides/rendaku-sequential-voicing/).

As for 緊急, the only thing you can do is pay careful attention to vowel length.
