When you look at a keyword... - Nanafuse - 2014-06-26 ...while doing a review, what comes to you head first? The story? An image of the story? The primitives' formats or keywords or the full kanji itself? Something else? I'm...kinda curious. And worried. The primitives' formats or keywords or the full kanji itself? Something else?It depends...I finished RTK1 (the edition with 2,042 kanji). When I review from the keyword to the kanji, sometimes I jump to the full kanji without thinking of the story, and sometimes I have to think through the story quickly to come up with the kanji. E.g., I see the word "gracious" (RTK #1907) and in order to come up with the kanji for that, my little brain thinks "Pinky TUSKadero was GRACIOUS enough to share her TURKEY sandwhich with Laverne and Shirley." (I assume that native Japanese speakers do not use this precise story to recall this particular kanji). What exactly are you worried about? When you look at a keyword... - Womacks23 - 2014-06-26 I have three main groups - kanji where my kind goes straight to the full kanji - kanji where my mind goes to the main radical/primitive and then to the rest - kanji where my mind goes completely blank and I have to figure out the story again I've been studying for more than 4 years now. |
