Is 研究社 for android worth getting? - Termy - 2014-06-14 Hi, As the topic says, I'm considering getting 研究社 for my android phone, but I'd like to ask if somebody else here has it first and can recommend it, before I shell out the 30+ dollars that it costs. I only found a thread discussing the Iphone version. The only experience I have with the dictionary is through Rikaisama, and there it seems like the most solid J-E dictionary I've seen. Is 研究社 for android worth getting? - Bokusenou - 2014-06-14 I would just get an EPWING viewer like EBPocket or Droidwing. That way you can search all EPWING dictionaries at once. I have mine set up to search a bunch of J-J & J-E dictionaries on my phone, including 研究社新和英大辞典. The apps may have a later version of the dictionary, but EPWING versions are more convenient. Is 研究社 for android worth getting? - Vempele - 2014-06-14 30+? Must be the 中辞典, the awesome 大辞典 is over $100. Seconding the EPWING suggestion. 研究社 can be a little picky about the spellings it accepts (sometimes not listing all alternative kanji, not even listing a kanji for some verbs, failing to recognize non-standard okurigana) so it's nice to have, say, EDICT as backup for its ability to recognize all possible spellings of a word. Plus the platform independence. Is 研究社 for android worth getting? - Termy - 2014-06-14 Thanks for the replies. Droidwing etc sounds even better then, if I can use more than just that dictionary. Does that mean I need to transfer the EPWING dictionary files from my computer to my android and then open those with Droidwing (the ones I use with Rikaisama)? Indeed I was looking at the smaller version of that dictionary.. 100+ dollars sounds a bit over the top if there's a better alternative. Is 研究社 for android worth getting? - Bokusenou - 2014-06-14 @Termy Yes, just copy your EPWING files to a folder on your phone & choose it in the Droidwing settings when it asks for the dictionary folder path. It's that easy.^-^ Definitely get an EPWING version of EDICT too, like Vempele said. I don't read the definitions when there are matches in other dictionaries, but EDICT is very good at listing alternate spellings which the professional dictionaries don't show. It's a decent backup if the other dics don't have anything. Is 研究社 for android worth getting? - Termy - 2014-06-14 I got EBPocket Pro and 研究社 on my phone now and it works like a charm. I'll add the others later. Thanks a whole bunch! Now it's even more pleasing to study on my phone. *Runs off and fondles his Note 3* Is 研究社 for android worth getting? - Bokusenou - 2014-06-14 Glad it helped! Is 研究社 for android worth getting? - Errol246 - 2014-08-04 Sorry for reviving an old thread but I need help with AndroidWing. I cannot for the love of my life get it to recognise my EPWING dictionaries. What am I supposed to do? With the EPWING version of EDICT I have to two folders, DATA and GAIJI. I put them in a folder called "dicts" in the "sdcard" folder, I set the directory to /sdcard/dicts, and nothing happens, I swear. I've tried a hundred other combinations, yet still it DOES NOT RECOGNISE ANY EPWING DICTIONARY. This is so ***** frustrating
