It seems like I can only browse the kanji, one by one. I must be doing something wrong. This isn't the most user friendly setup.

You probably can't have a kanji list browser because that would imply a to reproduce a part of Heisig's work, namely his kanji list, and his work is copyrighted. Heisig is already cool enough to allow this site to use his keywords and order. Not sure this has anything to do with user friendliness.

In the search field in the study page, introduce the kanji instead of the keyword. Alternatively, replace the kanji in this URL by the kanji you are looking for (you can even introduce kanji not in the books).

How would you suggest improving it ?

Are you browsing the Study pages on a tablet device?

Besides the dropdown and the search by keyword, I can't think of many other ways to look for a character.

Selecting primitives/radicals and whatnot is going to be slower due to the increased complexity of the search interface.

I suppose for mobile I could display a grid of characters, maybe in batches of 100, or per lesson? I can't think of any other simple ways to pick a character.

My question is simply, how do I pull up the story for a particular kanji in RTK1 (say #999) without scrolling through #1 to #998? I must be doing something wrong.

If you meant "when on a kanji page, how do I pull up a particular story?", you can't, you have to scroll through all the stories.

If you meant "how do I go to a particular kanji page?", you use the search side-bar in the study tab by entering either a keyword, a kanji or its RTK number like Fabrice said.

I finally figured out what the problem was. If you want to jump to kanji #999 for example, you input "999" in the search box and hit the ENTER button on your keyboard. I was confused because there's no button to click on. Clicking on the arrow buttons doesn't make you jump all the way to 999.

Fair enough, it's not the first time users mention the lack of a "go" button. When I feel better I'll have a look at it.

That would be great if you could, thanks. I really got frustrated for a while until I finally figured it out.
