Learning with Japanese? - egoplant - 2014-05-26 Has anyone here studied or learned something in Japanese? I was thinking about trying to find some Japanese textbooks or something to read though, but I'm wondering if it might be too hard because of specialized vocabulary. Anyone have any experience? Learning with Japanese? - mc962 - 2014-05-26 Do you mean learning some sort of subject in japanese (biology, programming, math, etc.)? Or learned Japanese in Japanese (or both). I bought a general biology textbook in japanese a few months ago, but at this point I havent done much more than browse the pictures I recognize from my bio classes. Specialized vocabulary would definitely be an issue, but the big problem I think is probably the kanji, depending on your kanji skill level. I could probably make a word list for all the words that I don't know about bio. in japanese, but first I need to know what it is that I'm reading, and because the book is at least high school+ then I don't necessarily know what I'm seeing. However, if you can ever make it to Kinokuniya in New York City, they have a bunch of the type of book I bought, I only bought biology because it's my major and I figured that I should start learning it at some point in japanese Learning with Japanese? - apirx - 2014-05-26 I imagine you can probably get a taste of the kind of vocabulary used by taking a look at some Japanese wikipedia entries on the topics you're interested in.
