I currently have three separate decks that I've made the past couple of years, but after quite a bit of procrastination, I now have 8400 (!) reviews awaiting me. Has anyone ever dealt with this amount of reviews before or have any ideas as to how to tackle this many cards?

I'd just delete them and start again, but I can understand if you don't want to do that. A less extreme option would be to reschedule all the due cards as new cards and just go through it at your own pace.
If you want to try and work through the backlog while still making progress on new material then take advantage of the max reviews per day function and set yourself a target you can keep up with. If you do that you can add new cards at a rate that will still see your overall amount of due cards fall. (it also makes it much easier to keep to your daily target)

Assuming you are using Anki.
1) In the card browser filter with "is:due"
2) Select all the results
3) Go to Edit-> Reschedule
4) In the dialog-box select "Place in review queue with interval between:"
5) Enter the interval that you think is appropriate (for that amount of cards I'd say that 0 to 90 days is okay)
You can replace step 1) with
1) In the card browser filter with "-is:new -is
uspended"This way you don't have to delete anything and your cards get spread among the interval you specify.

Suspend everything, then you can unsuspend cards at your leisure. Unsuspend a couple hundred cards a day until you work yourself back up to the point you were at.

I have about 13,000 cards in my deck. I recently did a touch of traveling and wound up missing 12 days of study time. I came home to 5000 reviews. Within a week I had cleared them and business was back to usual.
It's not really that hard:
1) Study using your normal schedule for your normal amount of time
2) Don't add any new cards
3) Do whatever you feel like everyday (which in my case was as much as I could stand)
4) ???
5) Profit
The funny thing about reviews is that if you do them, they go away! There's no magic here. Just sit down and slog through it.
