JLPT July 2014 - six8ten - 2014-04-02 For those taking the test in Japan, online application has begun. JLPT July 2014 - nickoakden - 2014-04-06 I'll be sitting the N2 in London, and it will be my first JLPT. I haven't really done any exam-specific Japanese study before, so I'm going to use these few months to go through past exam papers, and the Kanzen Master reading book. JLPT July 2014 - afterglowefx - 2014-04-06 Considering sitting for the test, despite not really having the time necessary for it. I really ought to look up what the registration period is, I'm awful with deadlines. JLPT July 2014 - Ash_S - 2014-04-06 Going to take advantage of being in Japan and finally get N1. The UK makes it too troublesome to apply with all the paperwork, whereas the online registration in Japan is super simple. I just hope the profile pic I took for them with my webcam is good enough quality...>< JLPT July 2014 - Bokusenou - 2014-04-06 @Ash To register in Japan you need to have a profile pic? Interesting...When I took it in the US I just filled out the online form and brought a photo id when I took the test. I guess these things vary from place to place. Anyways, good luck everyone! I finished my last JLPT in December, so I don't have any more levels to pass, but I'll be cheering all of you on from the sidelines! Because surely that's way more convenient than printing a PDF. (Also, no July JLPT over here. )

I hope I won't turn up on the day only to be told "sorry but your picture was too bad quality"...! JLPT July 2014 - Bokusenou - 2014-04-07 Wow, I didn't know signing up for the test varied so much from place to place! @Vempele That sounds really annoying...If it's any consolation, the US doesn't have the July test either. @Ash_S So you don't need to take a photo id to the testing center at all? At least that's one less thing to remember. If the web cam photo shows your general hair and skin color hopefully they'll give you the benefit of the doubt! @Zgarbas I hear you! I'm glad to be done with N1 too. JLPT July 2014 - Charly2 - 2014-04-09 Have registered to take N3 this July in London (who knows, might see some of you!). Thought about going for N2 since N3 seemed pretty okay with a bit of revision but decided to play safe and not risk it since I only have less than 3 months. If the web cam photo shows your general hair and skin color hopefully they'll give you the benefit of the doubt! You need to carry your residence or gaijin card with you everywhere in Japan anyway. If there's any problem for any reason then they're probably going to ask for some photo ID, and as a foreigner it is expected that you are carrying it with you at all times. JLPT July 2014 - riogray - 2014-04-10 That is only natural. In Germany we are required to have identification with us from the age of 16 onwards. If your have to do so in your own country, it is hardly suprising that you have to do the same in another. JLPT July 2014 - NightSky - 2014-04-11 It looks like I've missed the registration deadline for this again (for HK based exam). So annoying, I've wanted to take N1 for years now but keep not being able to register for different reasons. At least I should be super prepared should I ever get around to it. Hopefully will pass this years December one.... JLPT July 2014 - Sauzer - 2014-04-11 So jealous of the countries that get the July test... I'll see you in December N2!! JLPT July 2014 - vonPeterhof - 2014-04-11 Just registered for N1 in Moscow. Fourth time JLPT, second time N1, hoping to make it the last for both. Failed December's N1 by five points, doing my best to make sure this doesn't happen again. 皆さん、頑張って! JLPT July 2014 - amagiri - 2014-04-30 After a very long break from studying Japanese, I have decided to take the N3 in Dusseldorf. JLPT July 2014 - LongtimeLurker - 2014-07-04 It's nearly time!! I'm taking N2 in Japan on Sunday. How is everyone set for the test? JLPT July 2014 - Bokusenou - 2014-07-04 Good luck to everyone who is taking the test! 頑張って! I'd actually rather beat the pants off of the test than just barely pass it. (There's no logic there - it's a pride thing.) Best of luck!! 頑張って! JLPT July 2014 - gaiaslastlaugh - 2014-07-04 Zgarbas Wrote:I'm not taking the JLPT ever againYeah, yeah. Rub it in. :-p (But seriously - congrats!) JLPT July 2014 - LongtimeLurker - 2014-07-06 It's over! Took N2 today for the first time. I can only compare it to the practice tests. Here are my thoughts: - vocab and grammar felt a bit easier than the practice tests - reading felt harder than the practice tests. I can't say I understood any text to 100%. There were always bits and pieces I didn't quite get and when I thought I understood the text well, the answers were so similar that I still wasn't sure which one is the right answer (like only the nuance is different and one answer must be more right than the others but that it's not obvious which one unless you understood the text completely). - listening was good! They tell you to bring a watch with you but I don't have one, so I thought I will just look at the clock in the room. There was no clock!!! It was the first time I have been in a class room that didn't have a clock! Is that normal in Japan? So I thought at least they will announce the time before the end like 10 minutes left--- they didn't! So I hurried a little but solved the questions in my own pace and literally the second I marked down my last answer the test was over! That was close. I think some people didn't finish in time and there was no time for them to randomly answer any of the questions they didn't get to, yet. The instructors were very strict about putting the pens down. So next time I will defo bring a watch. JLPT July 2014 - Aikynaro - 2014-07-06 I did N3. Don't want to say that it was easy because I'd feel really stupid if I said that and failed, but ... yeah, I think I went fairly well. At least - the reading stuff was very easy - much easier than what I read for fun. The answers could be a bit cryptic though. Who even owns a watch in this day and age? JLPT July 2014 - vonPeterhof - 2014-07-06 Finished N1 about half an hour ago. I feel like I did better than last time on the fist part - at least I didn't leave any questions unanswered this time. The vocabulary was still my weakest bit, but thanks to speeding through grammar and finishing reading when there was about 10 minutes left I had enough time to fill in some blanks and rethink a couple problematic answers. The listening part didn't feel much more difficult than last time, and I think I did better on the fourth part. The fifth part was disappointing - I did take notes, but all that did for me was help rule out one or two wrong answers in each question, leaving me with no clue as to which of the remaining answers to choose from. The classroom wasn't equipped with a clock, but I did have an analog watch (a birthday present from a few years ago; normally I only wear it to work, as part of my business attire). Also, a few minutes before the start the proctors asked if we had any questions or requests, and someone asked them to inform us when there would be 30 minutes and 15 minutes left. All in all I'm a bit more confident this time and cautiously optimistic about the results. Still, fingers crossed until September. JLPT July 2014 - Ash_S - 2014-07-06 Took N1 at keio hiyoshi campus today. No clock in the room and they wouldn't give us any time prompts lol.... Test was fine though. JLPT July 2014 - lanval - 2014-07-06 Took the N2 today (1.time) - after 6 months of study in japan and passing their N2 tests with relative ease, I thought I'd be fine. I'm pretty sure I failed. Was way more difficult than the N2 practice tests, IN ALL AREAS! Kanji, Vocab... saw so many things I never even heard of before. Reading also left me guessing between 2 very similar options half of the time, what the heck is up with that?! - me keeps wondering... Listening was bad, as expected. Just read about kanzen master N2 being good, too late... Did anyone else feel like they accidently went into the N1-room? I'm sad about the money I spent on it, but on the other hand, N1 prob. being impossible, N2 will be my goal and motivation for a while longer. |
