Tobira vs Integrated Approach - alexxxx - 2014-03-20 I just finished genki 2 and am thinking of getting either tobira or integrated approach, but i'm not sure which one. i'm leaning more towards tobira right now because the reviews seem more favorable, but i was just wondering if they cover the same grammar points? because i read somewhere that tobira is aimed more towards people studying for jlpt n2, where as integrated is aimed towards those studying for the jlpt n3. does tobira have all the grammar points that integrated has, or does it skip over some since it's a bit more advanced? Tobira vs Integrated Approach - vebaev - 2014-03-20 I'm in the same position after Genki 2. I have ordered Integrated Approach for several reasons: Pros: -the jump from Genki is easy than to Tobira (which is more advanced) -the structure is similar to Genki -more cheap and more easy to find (at least in my location) -the grammar sentences have translations which make grammar more understandable if you are self-studying (Tobira sentences have not) Cons: -They say that the dialogs are the same as Genki - student lifetime Tobira vs Integrated Approach - NinKenDo - 2014-03-20 Pretty sure Tobira is set up so that with the exception of a few kanji, you should be able to pick up from any of the popular textbooks (Nakama, Genki, Minna no Nihongo, etc). I'm fairly certain that was a key decision in their design philosophy. Obviously it's going to be a little rougher than the transition to IA would be, but that's more down to the change in the way you learn than anything. I bought Tobira, and though I haven't started it yet, flicking through, I felt pretty confident about handling it after I finish Genki. Could always buy both and go through them in parallel if you have money to burn. |
