Windows 8 / 8.1 handwriting input - lamewing - 2014-03-18 Hello all, I haven't been around for a long time (reevaluating life and such) and I am in a bit of a quandary. I previously used an IBM Thinkpad tablet running Windows 7 as a way to input kanji/kana. This was helpful if I needed to input a kanji I didn't know how to type. Unfortunately, that machine has moved on to computer Nirvana. So, I looked at the MS Surface Pro 2 at the MS store as a replacement. The problem is that I (and no one in the store knew what to do) was unable to use Japanese handwriting input on the Surface Pro 2. I was able to use the Japanese keyboard, but the stylus option was greyed out. No luck at all. Has anyone been able to use this feature with Windows 8 / 8.1? I am unsure if this is limitation of the Surface Pro 2 or a limitation of the US version of Windows 8 / 8.1. Windows 7 worked perfectly, so this feels like a step backwards for MS. Joe |
