Where can one watch anime /without/ subtitles? - Hexerein - 2014-01-31

Forgive me if this question has been asked, but I couldn't find an answer in other threads.

Besides crunchyroll's right click -> don't show subtitles, where else online can one stream anime without the subs? Emphasis on streaming, and no, I'm not interested in putting tape on my computer screen.

The answer is not to stream it. Raws exist.

Search the name of the anime in japanese + 無料視聴 on google and use japanese 動画まとめ sites.

Download torrents. Even if you donwload fansubbed series you can simply turn the subs off in players like MPC and VLC because the vast majority of the time they're not hardcoded into the video track.

if you're downloading go for mkv format for the soft-subs that you can turn off.

On the non-hardsubbed videos on Hulu (mostly Viz licensed shows) you can also turn off the subtitles.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but streaming is horrible. You'll probably come to that conclusion on your own after you start downloading. A tip I've come across though for hardsubs is to not use tape, but just resize another window to place over the subtitles. Although all of this seems like a lot of effort for a lower quality version of something when you could just download everything.

Crunchyroll now offers many of their series with no-subs as an option.

I'll just note this is strictly only on the web version of CR. Your stuck with English subs on all the (PS3/360/Android/iOS) apps. Still not the end of the world though.

If you can get the original DVDs then that will work, but could end up very, very expensive.

There's always the 'peer based' option. Nyaa torrents is good and has raw and JP subbed offerings. You may then take the subs and use them on a legitimate copy.

A 1-dvd-at-a-time subscription to netflix isn't at all expensive and if you turn it around quickly that's 10-15 dvd's a month depending on your postal service.

If you're strictly interested in Anime it's a great option IMO. It's not technically legally to possess the files that you ripped to your drive once you put the dvd back in the mail, of course, but even when I still have the DVD in my hand I rip to HD first just to make the durned DVD drive noise go away when I'm trying to watch a show. (no idea why DVD drives are so much louder than harddrives, but they are.)

If anyone asks, any anime on my drives is just 'cause I forgot to delete it when I returned the disk.

By the time this actually happens you'll already be indicted and will never see your PC again. Granted you and I will probably win the same lottery simultaneously before that happens but you really don't need to rationalize IP theft because if you do get caught it's going to be hard to plead such a defense.

Instead just own your illegitimate ways. Smile

MC Anime

You can find just about any anime on that site, and they're all subbed in Spanish/Portugese....so it's about as good as watching it raw.

Netflix has been getting a lot of anime on their streaming site (at least in Canada, anyway) and most of them have the option of turning off the subs. I've been watching B Gata H Kei on there without subs and haven't had any problems.
They just got Attack on Titan and Sword Art Online.
You could also try a subscription to Funimation or The Anime Network. I'd imagine that you should be able to turn the subtitles off for those sites.

Looots of options, after all. That's good to hear! Thanks guys.

I didn't really want to go downloading stuff, though I'll do it as a last resort. Searching the titles of shows in Japanese 無料視聴 has been super helpful. I think I'll do that, using nosub if a show is airing (their videos get taken down super quick Sad )

When I started out I downloaded a couple things, but that takes up way too much space on my computer so now I watch almost all my anime/toku with Chinese subtitles on their streaming sites. You can search with http://video.baidu.com/, and one of my favorite sites to browse/watch on is http://www.letv.com/. Also I would recommend downloading the Chinese video watching app from http://www.pptv.com/. If you can't read Chinese it takes a little while to get used to navigating, but after that it's pretty easy (I'm working on putting together a guide on how to use it).
Some of the Chinese subbing groups (mostly for toku) actually put up dual Chinese/Japanese subtitles on their videos, which is really nice.

Put a sticky note on the subtitles, you'll forget it's there
