Iunno see you in an hour. JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - Guoguodi - 2014-01-29 Passed N1 (score was a bit worse than I was expecting): Vocab / Grammar: 49/60 Reading: 46/60 Listening: 46/60 Total: 141/180 It's finally over! JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - gaiaslastlaugh - 2014-01-29 Thanks for the tip, Moses. 不合格 again on N2 - this time by a mere five points. An improvement over last year, but not nearly as high on 読解 as I expected. I think I just need to bring up my general comprehension of the language, and my ability to read and comprehend Japanese quickly. Sigh. I'll severely spank myself If an additional year of study turns out not to have been enough to pass this time. well see. JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - TheVinster - 2014-01-30 Failed N1 Vocab / Grammar: 38/60 Reading: 14/60 Listening: 22/60 Total: 74/180 I knew I wasn't going to pass it once the guys I had met there were talking about how early they finished, whereas I was struggling with time. Oh well not sure if I'll take it again (just doing it for resume purposes) but we'll see what happens. JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - shan109 - 2014-01-30 Passed N1: Vocab / Grammar: 37/60 Reading: 33/60 Listening: 50/60 (I knew it - I missed the last 2 long conversations about the baito salary rate and the seminar) Total: 120/180 My listening skills saved my ass this time... thank you anime and Jpop ![]() Now, what should I do next? JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - kanon - 2014-01-30 Passed N1: Vocab / Grammer: 57/60 Reading: 57/60 Listening: 31/60 Total: 145 / 180 There. Did it without ever stepping foot in Japan. I knew listening was going to be bad... got a lot of misses on the supposedly easy "choose a response" section. Reading was higher than expected. In particular my reading score for N2 and N3 were only 50. Must have been the novels I read =) Now let the true journey in Japanese begin...... free of the shackles of JLPT JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - Charoncaori - 2014-01-30 Hi, I've been lurking around this forum on and off for a couple of years and finally decided to make an account. I wanted to say thank you. I keep coming back to this forum to make use of the wonderful advice and resources for Japanese study. I took the test for the first time in December, and here are my results: N3 Passed Vocab/Grammar: 38 / 60 (Vocab: B/Grammar: A) Reading: 40 / 60 Listening: 60 / 60 Total: 138 / 180 I'm thrilled! I've been self-studying on and off for about 10 years, and I'm really happy that I finally have a tangible result that I can point to and say I haven't been wasting my time. My goal is to pass the N2 this year, and if I can keep up with kanji I'm sure I'll be able to do it. I'm finally going to Japan for the first time this summer to celebrate! =D ---------------- If anyone else had trouble logging in to check their scores (I've been freaking out for the last few days trying to figure it out), here's what I did (I took the test in NY): Log into the https://jlpt.jflalc.org/ website with your email and password. Copy the "8 DIGIT PASSWORD TO ACCESS ONLINE SCORES" and click the "PRINT VOUCHER" button to obtain your examinee registration number. Now head over to this link: https://www.jlpt-overseas.jp/onlineresults/preinput.do and put in your examinee number on top, and the 8 digit password on bottom. Now you should have your results! Good luck! JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - SammyB - 2014-01-30 This was my first JLPT experience and I honestly had no idea how I went after the test, but looks like I passed N2! Vocab/Grammar 52 / 60 Reading 48 / 60 Listening 48 / 60 Vocabulary: A Grammar: A Total Score: 148 / 180 Guess I can start studying for N1 now after all. Didn't want to start until I knew I'd passed. Or maybe it was just an excuse not to study, haha. :p JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - Zgarbas - 2014-01-30 Passed the N1. I wasn't expecting this. JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - vonPeterhof - 2014-01-30 Failed N1: Language Knowledge: 24 Reading: 34 Listening: 37 Total: 95/180 [seriously, what's with people failing by 5 points?!] Vocab: C Grammar: B I expected a failure, but not one this close. I actually expected to fail the language knowledge section. The fact that I passed it makes it all the more disappointing that I couldn't reach the minimal required total. On the upside, the small margin probably means that getting it done this summer is pretty realistic with more adequate preparation. That C for vocab is worrying though. Gotta read more I guess. Congrats to all who passed! As for the rest of us, better luck next time! Gotta read more I guess.Sorry to hear. Like you said, I think that's an easy gap to close. My own plan will be two-pronged: explicit JLPT 読解 practice with one of my iTalki teachers once a week, and an enhanced focus on listening comprehension. I've gone back recently to active studying of anime and drama, parsing the subtitles and listening to the episode repeatedly to understand everything. I think it's helping with listening, but it's definitely helping w/ filling in the holes of my overall comprehension. I think I have a firm base of vocab and grammar knowledge; it's now a matter of processing faster and more accurately. JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - sunehiro - 2014-01-30 I attempted the N5 here in Italy and passed Vocab/Grammar/Reading 120/120 Listening 41/60 I didn't "listened" too good but I think it's because at the time I hadn't started listening seriously yet. I hope I will early become a "grown-up" and attempt higher levels soon.

When you do that, it’s helpful when you encounter the vocab in different contexts and not just in that one specific anime/drama episode you study. For me, recently, that “aha” moment came with まるで, which appears in one of my favourite songs I was listening to many times, but never bothered to look up. Then, I came across まるで in one of the anime I was watching, but this time it was an active study. The next time I heard まるで in the song, I was “Now, I get it”. Well, the above just describes the phenomenon, unfortunately I’m not sure how to achieve a full control over this phenomenon to happen. The first time I see a word like 撫でる, I think, "What the hell's that?" The next x times I see it in different contexts, I think, "Hey, I've studied this...what does it mean? Ah yeah, right..." Then finally one day I see it, and it's, "Ah, 撫でる, my old friend..."gaiaslastlaugh Wrote:I've gone back recently to active studying of anime and drama, parsing the subtitles and listening to the episode repeatedly to understand everything.A tip. I don't think there's a way to make it happen, either. Just volume and variety of material, I suppose. In the other song I tend to listen to, 森田童子 has "時がなぜてゆく" (「なでる」 and 「なぜる」 are the synonyms). I was told that "時がなぜてゆく" sounds poetic…
JLPT December 2013 Scores Available - Discuss! - kodorakun - 2014-01-31 I took N1 and got this: December: Language Knowledge: 40/60 Reading: 1/60 Listening: 35/60 The messed up thing is I took it in July and got: Language Knowledge: 30/60 Reading: 26/60 Listening: 26/60 I posted another thread moaning about this. But I'm puzzled! I busted ass working on listening and reading comp questions, and I boosted listening, and language knowledge, and then for some reason reading comp was almost zero! Even if I was "off by one" in filling out my bubble sheet, the ~50% I'd expect to get wrong should have landed on the right answer 25% of the time. I don't know if it's worth contacting them or not about this, I feel like they will just tell me to shutup and go away 笑. FML. I checked some of my test answers online via another link someone had posted and I find it extremely hard to believe I got 5/60 on reading. I guess I just wasn't ready for this exam. I should take N3 I guess. I'm really really down right now. Thought I did so much better than this. =\ Anyone have any recommendations about what to do from here? |
