Quiz Buddy, can't see characters? - Shingo - 2008-02-24
Hey,
I found a great program called Quiz Buddy and I have just spent ages inputting loads of Kana into it buy cpoying the unicode characters off sites for speed and then writing in the other side of the flashcard etc. Thing is (having installed the windows language packs) it would show me the correct character on the input screen then when you click ok and go onto the next one I assumed all was well. but now all it displays is loads of ?'s. Its as if the language pack hasn't been installde for this program, or at least it hasn't effected it.
The site states that unicode is accpeted and I have been throught the options many times but I can't see anything obvious. What font is it best to set it to? I have it on MS Unicode but this doesn't work and neither do the others at the moment. Have you guys had any problems like this before, how do you think I can solve this? I don't really want to have to do them all again ...

It sounds like despite selecting a unicode font, the application doesn't support unicode. Have you set your Windows system locale & non-unicode application settings to Japanese?
I don't recall exactly where those settings are since I moved away from Windows a few years ago, but the links that show you how to setup the IME etc should also talk about it (search forum, I saw some post about it awhile ago).
