Japanese subs? - sparky14 - 2013-11-20 Hey does anyone know where I can watch anime with Japanese subs? I've looked around and people say http://kitsunekko.net/ works but they have srt. files which are subtitle files, and not the actual video files. Japanese subs? - Bokusenou - 2013-11-21 Put the srt file in the same folder as your anime file, and rename it the same thing, e.g if the file is called Random_anime_series_ep1.mkv rename the sub file Random_anime_series_ep1.srt or rename them both to the same thing. Then open the anime in some media player like windows media player classic or VLC. It should show the subs. If not, see if there's an option to show subs you need to turn on in your media player. Japanese subs? - Aspiring - 2013-11-21 "Hey does anyone know where I can watch anime with Japanese subs?" A site might exist, but it's probably more convenient to download the video file & use the subtitle as Bokusenou suggested. Youtube / niconico might have some series. Some may suggest a Japanese tv streaming site, although I don't know of any at the moment. Japanese subs? - sparky14 - 2013-11-21 Yes the problem is I don't know where to find the video files... Japanese subs? - Aspiring - 2013-11-21 animetake.com provides download links to recent anime series. Many older series aren't available. Summary of this youtube link. Intended for informational use only. [The about section is all that's really necessary, but I suppose the video provides some useful information.] uTorrent's a program that uses .torrent files to download media Sites like nyaa.eu, bakabt.me, and animetosho.org provide .torrents to anime series Some members have suggested "kamigami" subs from nyaa.eu uTorrent is similar to the downloader bar in an internet browser, but as a stand-alone program that uses p2p .torrents provide access to shared files, much like a link to a download You might open the .torrent file through a p2p program Find a video about setting up the p2p program, and then acquire desired shows from the provided links. Media Player Classic, or whatever media player you prefer may be used to watch the file. Also, for DVDs and such, nearly all of the subtitles are the hearing-impared variety so they aren't always exact. Japanese subs? - Daichi - 2013-11-21 Easy, get a Japanese TV signal that has it's closed caption stream intact. No wait, that is not easy unless you live in Japan. You pretty much have you provide your own video files, and then you need to learn how to deal with subs that don't match the video you have (Aegisub). "Finding" Japanese media online is basically bootlegging, so it's kind of grey area to talk about it here. The internet is full of all kinds of information if you learn to search for it. Anyway, the best thing I can probably link you to directly is Nukemarine's topic on Dramas. You would be surprized what you can learn off of YouTube. If you are just starting out, I suggest kids shows like Pretty Cure and Pokemon. Both of which you will find on Kitsunekko, but whatever you can get your hands on and _enjoy_ works fine too. Japanese subs? - SomeCallMeChris - 2013-11-21 You -can- get anime legally and reasonably cheaply through Netflix DVDs and, I assume Redbox although I've never used them, and likely through other rental services. I don't know what you would rename a subtitle file to in this case... I just use the 'open file' option from the subtitles menu. Anyway, VLC player will play either physical DVDs or DVD directories if you happen to rip the file to drive. (I always do, if only because the hard drive is faster and quieter. It wouldn't, of course, be quite legal anymore if you returned the disk before watching a ripped copy. I'm not quite sure if it's legal to rip to the hard drive to avoid DVD drive noise, but whatever. ) Also, I did write a little program that lets you play SRT files in a small always-on-top window. It's a little clunky, but I use it in combination with hulu and crunchyroll for some shows. Possibly also useful for playing subtitles along with an mp3 audio of an anime episode for shadowing. http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?tid=10843 (Someday I'll add ASS support, especially since results of ass2srt sometimes have weird timing artifacts, plus it's a pain to ass2srt every week for a current series. Ideally I want to put the titles on a transparent background so you can smack them right over the animation instead of keeping them below it.) Japanese subs? - sparky14 - 2013-11-21 Thanks guys, sounds good. Japanese subs? - corry - 2013-11-22 If a series isnt on kitsunekko does that mean it wasnt broadcast with captions? Japanese subs? - ryuudou - 2013-11-25 Torrent. Stop being so indirect about it you girls. ....as in legally torrent anime seasons you've already purchased for backup purposes. Yeah... that. Japanese subs? - Daichi - 2013-11-25 corry Wrote:You guys make it sound like everything airs with Japanese captions. This simply isn't true, only a small percent of anime airs this way. Japanese culture doesn't provide as much as Western culture does when it comes to accessibility options for people like the hearing impaired.howtwosavealif3 Wrote:Why are anime fans so lazy about this then? It makes me sad lol.... Kitsunekko has almost everything anime wise that has aired in Japan with captions in the past 3 or so years. There is a very small minority of DVDs and BDs that are released with a Japanese subtitle track. Sub files off video discs like these are in a picture format, and need to be converted to text. Beyond that, there are a few popular shows that have Japanese subs on Kitsunekko due to Chinese subbers taking the time to provide them for us, but those are few and far between. (Anime aside, a high majority JDrama is aired with captions, which is why drama scene has so much in comparison to the anime scene.) If it's anime and not on Kitsunekko, it's like more than a 9 out of 10 chance that the subs simply don't exist unless you provide them yourself. And by the time you have the skill to do such a thing, you will probably know enough Japanese to not care about creating such a thing. (The vicious endless circle.) This sounds harsh, but it is pretty much the truth. Don't waste time worrying about why you can't find Japanese subtitles for your favorite show and just work with the limited options you got. There are plenty of gems already on Kitsunekko. Japanese subs? - lauri_ranta - 2013-11-25 If someone gets here searching for Japanese subtitles for dramas, see http://jpsubbers.x10.mx/Japanese-Subtitles/ or http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/subtitles.php#Japanese. You can download torrents for anime from sites like *snip* or *Snip*. Japanese subs? - RawToast - 2013-11-26 Please don't post links to torrent sites and other sources of illegal downloads. It's fine to talk about torrents, but don't post links to torrent sites. Quote:. Japanese subs? - balloonguy - 2013-11-30 You'd be surprised at the amount of shows that air with captions. To check whether a show airs with captions, there is usually a box that says 字幕 or 字幕放送 during the first few seconds like so: ![]() Or you can look up the show on Yahoo Japan Tv and see if the latest episode has 字幕 under 属性情報 Japanese subs? - kanon - 2013-12-02 As mentioned before, for anime, the list of sites where you will most likely find it goes like this: 1. kitsunekko.net (contains subs from TV stream, and also a fair number of kamigami subs) 2. kamigami.org (Chinese group, soft J-subs) 3. iskytree.com (Chinese group, hard dual-Japanese+Chinese subs) #2 and #3 are annoying because you have to register account and login frequently to earn points so you can obtain their releases. Japanese subs? - Aikynaro - 2013-12-02 Doesn't kamigami release their stuff on Nyaa? That's where I've always found it.
