Sub2Srs Questions - abrapsychic - 2013-11-22
So I have two subtitle files, one for English and another for Japanese,
I followed the advice and inputted them where they belonged on the sub2srs interface
After generating a preview, I realized that subtitles were matching up wrong after a while so I tried to use the time shift but it did not help
There seems to be a different amount of lines between the two subtitles depending on whether or not sound effects/onomatopoeia takes a line of its own on the file
Also, even though they are about the same episode, one of them ends after 24 min and the other has a time stamp at 21 min.
I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the time stamps appropriately on one of the subtitle files so that it matches the other, considering the subtitles have vastly different end times
Also, both subtitle files are .ass so I am not sure if that will be a problem in case I need to convert it

What you probably want is Aegisub - just line up the Japanese subtitles with the audio from the video manually.
Problems like this are usually caused by ad breaks that are still in the Japanese subs but cut out by whoever encoded the video.
I've never had any major trouble with the English/Japanese subtitles lining up after fixing things with Aegisub - subs2srs seems to deal with it quite fine even if things are broken up differently by the English subbers (or maybe it doesn't but I just don't notice, but it's never an issue in any case).
