That would be way too advanced for me and I wouldn't enjoy the game at all most likely.

Grand Theft Auto 5 - Jombo - 2013-09-17

The trailer shows GTA5 with just subtitles. I also remember watching a Japanese Let's Play (実況プレイ) of GTA4 and it was all in English with Japanese subtitles/menus/text, so it might be the same for this game. I think you'll be able to follow along just fine if you understand basic Japanese. It might be worth the extra money & wait. It comes out on Oct. 10 for $75 on Playasia.

I'm really excited for this game.

I ended up getting it today. I think playing it in Japanese would make me burned out/get sick of Japanese. Gaming is my relaxing time to recharge and get away from everything else like work and studying.

It's a little funny. Upon reflection, doing things such as reading Japanese comics, listening to Japanese music, even idling watching Japanese anime, is a pleasure at yet at the same time, if I am out of touch with the language for too long, I begin to feel anxious, almost unclean.

Juxtaposition makes life humorous for those around us, I guess.

I know I would be like that, so glad I don't have ps3 or I would have got it...

BUT... for those of you who have the urge to get addicted to a game but don't want to hurt your Japanese studies, there is the new Pokemon coming out and I for one am planning to buy a 3DS solely to play this game.

The best bit is that you can switch from Japanese to English at will if you ever get stuck understanding something Smile

Hmm I might actually buy this. Hopefully there's a kanji version instead of just plain hiragana like my Pokemon gold and yellow.

@Xanpakuto: Black and White had a kana/kanji setting in the configuration menu, so it's probably safe to assume these games will have kanji too. But don't expect any furigana in kanji mode (afaik only the home console installments include furigana).

OH MY GOSH is that really true??? You can switch the language??? I was going to buy a Japanese 3DS & the Japanese version of the game @.@ But I don't have to??

Sorry for all the question marks I'm just really happily surprised hahaha whoa. I was about to order the Japanese 3DS yesterday, too. o_o

Does anyone have any more information on the language switching feature?

Basically they didn't want to make people have to wait for the localizations of the game, they're doing a global release with seven different languages included. However, it doesn't look like you can switch languages while playing - what you pick at the beginning is the language you'll be playing that game in.

I bought a Japanese gamecube with a lot of originals. Super smash melee, mario kart, pokemon colosseum, etc. I might buy luigis mansion. Well, it is region locked.

Thanks for the link, Quark.

I did a quick skim through Serebii's pre-release pics of Black and White, and 円 was the only kanji I saw there, too. So I think that kana-mode is just the norm for promo shots.

There better be kanji (； ･`д･´)
