Where to get German-->Japanese ressources?eg.dictionary for Mac/iPhone - Mr_Gororo - 2013-08-21

I'm having a hard time finding Mac tools like a German to Japanese pop-up dictionary or parallel texts etc.. Also I'm a Windows guy and don't know my way around a Mac..

Does anyone know of any resources for a Japanese person who is learning German?

Thanks for any advice!

Gororo

http://www.wadoku.de/ is a free German-Japanese dictionary that works fairly well...

Also there's an epwing dictionary (just search "epwing dictionaries torrent" on Google). It's called (very original name) "Wadoku" ;P I never used it though, so I have no idea how good it is.

Looks like there is a Rikaichan dictionary for Japanese-German here. You could test it out...

Of course, it would be simpler for him to use English as an intermediary XD Uhm, apart from that just looking for ドイツ語 on the japanese amazon yields a lot of results.

Could it be... that they're the same dictionary? You know, what with having the same name (even if generic) and all? http://www.wadoku.de/wiki/display/WAD/Downloads+und+Links

Haha, wow. Yes it could very well be...
I think your best option - if you're functionnal in English - is to use thefreedictionary.com and dict.cc, two excellent websites for EN<->DE.

Also, the old and proven method: Get yourself the same novel in Japanese and German. In my experience, this works very well, most translations stay very close to the original. Most printed parallel texts for uncommon language pairs are print-on-demand (ie. ugly and possibly expensive) books, so I wouldn't recommend searching for this.

I've looked a bit on the Internets and couldn't find anything worth mentionning online concerning parallel texts. Then again, I've searched in German... maybe there's something to be found by searching from the Japanese learner's point of view.

http://assimil.de/sprachen/japanisch.php

This is the only resource I can think of off the top of my head. I don't know anyone who's ever used it, but I've used their French->Chinese and English->Spanish courses and they were both good. A bit expensive, but there are probably other ways of obtaining it... like second hand. *cough* *cough*

Edit: realized I didn't understand the question properly. You could probably still use it backwards? I dunno.

I think AJATT actually recommends using audio courses that way, the reasoning being that 90% of the audio will be in the right language.

The only problem being that the recordings for assimil are always, if not almost always, entirely in the TL. The books, on the other hand, have grammar explanations and translations of the dialogues in L1.

Seems I'm not much help here today.
